I don’t know about you, but I love chocolate! There is no reason to cut it out when you choose to live a healthier lifestyle. You may be rolling your eyes thinking, “I am not choking down some bitter dark chocolate just for the sake of being healthy, I want the sweet, melt in your mouth stuff!”. Well, I got you, look no further!
The other day I was dreaming of Nutella and wishing there was a chocolate spread on the market that is actually healthy for you that didn’t have a bunch of added sugars and ingredients I knew wouldn’t be beneficial to my system like dairy. My desire was out of this world and because I have a fairly strong sweet tooth. So I went to the kitchen and got to work!
This recipe is easy, delicious, nutritious and school safe.
Chocolate Sunflower Spread
Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados, de-pitted
- 4 dates, pits removed (I like to soak mine in hot water for 10 minutes first, makes them juicier!)
- 4 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1/3 to 1/2 cup non-dairy milk (start with 1/3 cup and add by the tbsp for desired consistency)
- 1/3 cup raw cacao powder
- 1/2 cup sunflower seed butter
- 1 tsp maca powder
- 1 tsp Ceylon/true cinnamon
Instructions
- Toss everything in your food processor and blend until smooth!
Enjoy on toast, as a dip for fruit or go crazy and eat it right off the spoon!
