Blog Entry #14- Natural & Custom Make-Up Remover Pads
As I become more conscious of what I am putting into my body, it naturally makes sense to begin to consider what I am putting ON my body. Shampoo, conditioner, lotions, soaps, cosmetics, and cosmetic removing solutions are really just deliciously scented chemicals- some more sinister than others. Turning my attention to products on my “most used” list seemed the best place to begin with replacing my store-bought products for more natural solutions.
I love going to bed with a freshly scrubbed face, so make-up remover was the first product I tackled. I have swapped my make-up removing clothes for homemade make-up removing pads. Using this “recipe,” anyone can mimic and customize their own product to their specific needs.
Ingredients
(purchase organic when available)
- Small glass Mason Jar (jam sized)
- 25 organic cotton make-up rounds
- 4 TBSP water
- 4 TBSP Witch Hazel
- 1-4 TBSP Essential Oil of Choice
To prepare
- Combine all liquids in jar
- Place stack of cotton rounds in jar
- Seal jar & shake as needed to saturate all pads
- Use to remove all make-up and refresh face as needed
Types of Oil for Skin Type
- Oily Skin: Orange, lemon, lime, bergamot, geranium, cypress
- Blemished Skin: Tea Tree, geranium, vetiver, lavender, patchouli
- Dry Skin: Cedarwood, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Palmarosa, Chamomile
- Aging Skin: Tangerine, Ylang-Ylang, Patchouli, Cypress, Sandalwood, Lavendar, Frankincense, Rose, Palmarosa, Elemi
