How I Went from A Junkie to A Foodie

Before embarking on this journey of self discovery as well as being totally health conscious, I would say I abused my body by eating a lot of junk foods, processed foods, fizzy drinks and most of all high sugar chocolate bars. Most days I hardly drank water, I was surviving on fizzy drinks, I would say this was the worst time in my life, I was suffering from low self esteem, depression, and just didn’t know what I wanted in life.

My wake up call came when an aunt of mine died from complications of diabetes and high blood pressure, I knew I had to change my lifestyle. I also found out diabetes runs in my family line, my grandma also died from complications of diabetes.

How I Went from A Junkie to A Foodie…

The road to recovery from being a junkie to eating wholesome foods and drinking water was a tough one for me, but I overcame it!

Here are some steps I took on my road to recovery

  • I started by drinking more water, I didn’t like the taste of water so I added some lemon juice and a little bit of honey.
  • I started eating more wholesome foods, fruits and vegetables
  • I started exercising by going on long walks as soon as I woke up, then gradually started running
  • I fasted once every week using water, lemon, honey and cayenne pepper.

After about a month of taking these steps not only did I lose some weight, my skin became clearer, and I wasn’t depressed anymore.
