Let’s Talk Plants!
The HEALTHY Vegetarian
There are many types of vegetarian diets, but they all have a similar principle in common; an increase in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, dried beans and peas, grains, seeds and nuts; and a decrease in animal foods. Some vegetarian diets allow eggs, dairy, and fish, where others do not. A vegan diet requires complete abstinence from animal foods and products.
It may surprise you to know that it is just as easy to be an unhealthy vegetarian as an unhealthy carnivore. When you decide to follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, it is important you are aware of common deficiencies and meal planning considerations to ensure a smooth transition and long term good health.
