This is a boosted up version of an old classic. Hope you enjoy!
Hot Cocoa For One
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp cocoa or cacao
- 1/2 – 1 tbsp sugar – white, coconut
- Milk – canned, non dairy, dairy
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (optional)
- 1 tsp powdered ashwagandha (I use Organic Traditions, I pick it up at our local Bulk Barn
- 1 tsp powdered maca (Organic Traditions)
- 1-2 tbsp Great Lakes collagen (see below)
- Mix all the powders together in a mug. Add just enough milk to form a paste. Mix until smooth. Add 6-8 oz boiling water or hot milk. Stir to combine and Enjoy!
Notes
- Maca is added to boost immunity, support menopause/hormone balance and promote vitality (Nutrition for Intuition by Doreen Virtue and Roberts Reeves)
- Ashwagandha is added as an adaptogenic – a substance that helps us cope with external & internal stresses (click here for more information)
- Collagen is added for a protein boost ( I get this one from Amazon.ca) -> not an affiliate link
Supplements can be expensive, I pick them up one at a time as my budget will allow. For a simple, budget-friendly hot cocoa, you can simply omit the supplements — you can still enjoy a delicious, comforting cup of homemade hot cocoa!
