My New Favourite Healthy Snack Using Chia Seeds!

Who doesn’t  love to snack, but when done mindlessly it can lead to a whole lot of extra calories and fat. We can spend so much time and effort on our healthy meals and exercise plans but blow all that effort when it comes to snacking. Over the past 15 years I have been playing with different foods, combining them to make healthy, taste, filling snacks. This Chia yogurt is one of my new favourites. It is easy, only has 3 ingredients, and not too hard on your wallet when broken down into serving sizes. It combines a healthy ratio of omega 3’s and 6’s, it is high protein, low sugar and low carbohydrates. It is packed full of gut friendly probiotics, fibre and Vitamin “C.”

I tend to not measure my ingredients but go by taste and texture, adding and deleting as I go, so the recipe here is more a general guideline for you to make into what tastes best for you.

Healthy Snack Using Chia Seeds!

Ingredients

Approximately

  • 1 cup Plain, 0% fat, greek yogurt
  • 2 TBSP Chia seeds
  • 1 Lg. grapefruit or Orange or 2 Kiwi’s

Directions

  • In a bowl combine the Chia seeds with the greek yogurt, squeeze the grapefruit juice and pulp in
  • Stir and wait for the chia to grow up to 10 times it’s original size, adding more volume to your snack
  • Sometimes I even add a little bit of water or a extra piece of fruit depending on how thick, or creamy I want it
  • You will want to check it a few times, making adjustments to the thickness as you go
  • Another trick for those who don’t love the taste of plain yogurt is I add a few drops of liquid vanilla stevia to the yogurt. It is amazing how much flavour it can add
