Student Spotlight: Meet NutraPhoria Alumni and Holistic Nutrition Coach Sandra Labaki!

This month, we’re honoured to spotlight NutraPhoria Alumni, Holistic Nutrition Coach, and founder of The Healthy Treat, Sandra Labaki. With a background in business and a heart deeply shaped by motherhood, Sandra’s journey into holistic nutrition began as a personal search for healing. Navigating her own gut health challenges and hormonal imbalances after becoming a mom of two, she felt called to look beyond symptom management and toward true root-cause wellness. What started as a personal passion has since evolved into a mission to empower families to better understand their bodies, restore balance, and reconnect with food that genuinely nourishes. Through her playful, science-informed approach, and her line of gut- and blood sugar–friendly treats, Sandra shows us that healing foods can be both delicious and accessible. Her story is a powerful reminder that holistic nutrition isn’t about restriction or perfection, but about curiosity, consistency, and creating sustainable wellness that supports the whole family.

Can you share a bit about your background, specialization, and what first inspired you to pursue holistic nutrition?

My background is in business, but becoming a mom of two shifted my perspective. After experiencing gut issues and hormonal imbalances, I felt called to explore holistic nutrition not just as a passion, but as a way to heal from the root. What started as a personal journey has grown into a mission: empowering others to understand their bodies, restore balance, and enjoy food that truly nourishes. Along the way, I built a brand of healthy snacks that are gut-friendly and blood-sugar friendly, crafted without the “bad stuff.” These treats are designed to prove that healing foods can be both delicious and family-approved, turning everyday snacking into a step toward wellness.

What’s your unique approach to holistic nutrition, and how does it shape the way you support your clients?

My approach blends science with playfulness. I translate complex research into simple, relatable strategies that families can actually enjoy. Whether it’s gut-friendly snacks, interactive content, or personalized protocols, I focus on making wellness approachable and empowering. Clients feel supported not just with information, but with tools that fit their lifestyle and spark curiosity rather than overwhelm.

Since becoming a holistic nutrition professional, what’s one habit or daily ritual you’ve implemented that has had the biggest impact on your well-being?

My most impactful ritual is morning grounding before the day begins –  A mix of hydration, breathwork, and gratitude. It sets the tone for balance and clarity, even on busy days with my kids and business. That small daily practice reminds me that wellness isn’t about perfection, but about consistent, nourishing choices that ripple into everything else.

How has your perspective on health and wellness changed or evolved since studying Holistic Nutrition?

Studying holistic nutrition shifted my perspective from “fixing symptoms” to truly understanding root causes. I realized that health isn’t just about food, it’s about stress, sleep, hormones, gut health, and even joy. Wellness became less about restriction and more about creating balance, resilience, and sustainable habits that honor the whole person.

How do you stay inspired and continue growing in the ever-evolving world of holistic wellness?

I stay inspired by remembering that wellness is never static. It’s a living, breathing journey. I’m constantly learning from new research, but also from my community, my kids, and my own body’s signals. Curiosity keeps me growing, and gratitude keeps me grounded. Every challenge, whether it’s a client’s breakthrough or my own healing reminds me that there’s always more to discover.

Can you share a standout success story or transformation from a client that deeply impacted you?One client came to me struggling with chronic fatigue and digestive discomfort. Through root-cause nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and mindset work, she not only regained her energy, but rediscovered joy in food and family life. Watching her go from surviving to thriving reminded me why I do this work. It’s not just about healing the body, but restoring confidence and vitality.

If you could offer one piece of advice to current students or recent graduates, what would it be?

Be proud of yourself for showing up and putting in the work – it matters more than you think. My advice is to stay open and flexible: the path you start on may not be the one you end up walking, and that’s okay. Trust your curiosity, lean into the discomfort of learning, and remember that growth often comes from the unexpected detours.

What’s next for you? Any exciting projects, goals, or new directions for your wellness practice?

I’m excited to expand my wellness practice by blending creativity with science in new ways. Right now, I’m working on projects that make anti-inflammatory living more approachable whether through playful content, community programs, or nourishing treats that families can enjoy together. My goal is to keep building spaces where people feel empowered, supported, and inspired to heal from the root.
