The Power Of Cinnamon

Cinnamon is one of the most popular spices in the world, and is ranked #1 for its protective antioxidant levels. It comes from a bark of the cinnamomum tree and along with being a powerful antioxidant, it is also anti-diabetic, antimicrobial and cancer preventing.

All you need is 1/2 tsp of cinnamon a day to reap the benefits:

  • Anti inflammatory – there are seven types of flavanoids in cinnamon which fight inflammation throughout the body.
  • Helps with Allergies – reduces inflammation and fights histamine reactions in the body. Also reduces asthma symptoms.
  • Fights Diabetes – blocks enzymes that allow sugar to be absorbed into the blood, therefore the amount of glucose that is allowed to enter the blood stream is decreased.
  • Antioxidant – slows the aging process and reduces free radical damage. Cinnamon is high in polyphenols, phenolic acid and flavonoids which all help to reduce oxidative stress.
  • Prevents and Cures Candida – with it’s anti-fungal property, cinnamon can stop or prevent candida overgrowth in the digestive tract. Cinnamon also helps control blood sugar levels, and Candida risk is associated with too much sugar in the digestive tract.
  • Protects the Heart – decreases high blood pressure and total cholesterol level as well as, high cholesterol and triglycerides.
  • Brain Health – cinnamon’s antioxidant properties can protect the brain against developing alzheimer’s and even parkinson’s disease. It activates neuro-protective proteins that protect brain cells from damage.
  • Protects Against Viruses and Infections – cinnamon’s essential oils increase immunity and can protect against various types of bacteria.

Cinnamon Benefits Nutraphoria

Try adding cinnamon to your oatmeal, in your favourite smoothie or stir it in your coffee. I always add a tsp or two of cinnamon in my baked goods. A little goes a long way!
