Lets’s talk about cucumbers…

First and foremost, cucumbers are actually a fruit. Yup, you heard me, they are a fruit, not a vegetable. They are very versatile. You can slice them up and put in them in a salad, you can pickle them or use them even as a homemade beauty product. There are so many health benefits to this delicious fruit.

Benefits of Cucumber

  • They keep you hydrated since they are 96% water
  • Have a cooling effect on sunburns and when eaten, it helps with heartburn
  • Flushes out toxins
  • Has vitamins A, B and C keeping your skin radiant
  • Packed with magnesium, potassium and silicon which also excellent for the skin
  • Aids in weight loss
  • Has cancer-fighting potential
  • Soothes muscle and joint pains
  • Keeps kidneys healthy
  • Aids in helping diabetics lower their blood sugar levels

  • Helps reduce cholesterol

  • They have antioxidant properties
  • Helps protect the brain
  • Supports digestion

WOW! Cucumbers can do so much for us it’s incredible. I like adding cucumbers to my daily juices. Keeps me well hydrated and because cucumbers contain silica, it’s beneficial for my hair and nails which I have noticed during my 21-day juice cleanse that my nails have gotten stronger. Thumbs up to that!

Tips:

  • Add cooled sliced cucumbers to your eyes. It helps reduce under-eye bags and reduce the appearance of dark circles
  • Add them to your soups and salads
  • Freshen your breath by placing a slice of cucumber onto your rooftop. This will help remove bacteria in your mouth
  • Use cucumber juice with a squeeze of lemon and apply it to your skin as a facial mask. This will leave your skin looking radiant
