Benefits of Raw Honey

What is raw honey?

Raw honey is the sweet golden liquid that honeybees produce from the nectar of flowers. It is unfiltered, unpasteurized, unheated and unprocessed. Honey naturally contains nutrients and enzymes that have a variety of health benefits and medical uses. Honey is extremely high in minerals such as calcium, potassium, zinc, selenium, phosphorus, chromium, molybdenum and manganese.

Benefits of raw honey:

  • It is a good source of antioxidants. Honey has many antioxidants as fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants help to protect our body from cell damage due to free radicals. The pathogen-killers which is a phytochemical that protect you from radiation damage and anti-cancerous phytochemicals. These phytochemicals can stop cancerous growth in its tracks. Raw honey also repairs DNA.
  • Aids in the immune system. Honey helps strengthens neutrophils and macrophages so they can fight off pathogens. These properties also make honey an anti-inflammatory because it inhibits pathogens from procreating and thus releasing toxins to elevate inflammation.
  • Heals wounds. Honey is great for applying to small wounds and revitalizing the skin. It is also great for scars where you want to speed up the healing process.
  • Helps with digestion issues. It proves to be a treatment for H. pylori, a cause of peptic ulcers. Honey helps relieve and help soothe the pain.
  • Packed with phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are compounds found in plants that help protect the plant from harm. Honey is extracted from plants, therefore it has phytonutrients. Phytonutrients have both antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits, which help maintain good health.

  • Add raw honey to lemon water to enhance the honey’s bioflavonoids and give the drink an extra immune boost
  • Take honey before bed. It enhance a night’s sleep
  • Use honey to replace other sweeteners in recipes
  • Make a homemade face scrub by mixing honey with sugar and rub in circular motions to get rid of dry, dead skin
  • Apply it to acne. Let the honey sit for 15-20 minutes then rinse
