Healthy Hot Cocoa

Nothing like a warm cup of Ho-Cho to keep you cozy on a cold day.

A staple in almost all of my bevy concoctions is Turmeric.

  • It contains a compound called Curcumin which helps to decrease inflammation as well as boost immune system function.
  • It has an antibiotic effect that helps protect against certain bacteria and intestinal parasites.
  • It helps in detoxification by acting as a “liver cleanser” to increase bile flow which assists the liver in eliminating toxins from the body.

Just in case you needed another reason to drink hot cocoa.

Healthy Hot Cocoa

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Almond Milk (substitute with your choice of milk)
  • 1 teaspoon of Unsweetened Cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon of Turmeric
  • a sprinkle of Cayenne pepper or more if you like it hot
  • 1 teaspoon of Raw Unpasteurized Honey (substitute with whichever sweetener you prefer and to your liking)

Instructions

  • Pour a cup of milk into a small pot and turn the heat on to medium-low.
  • Add Cocoa, Turmeric, Cayenne and stir.
  • Once you start to see some steam come up add in your choice of sweetener and stir. I like to use my emulsion blender to whip it up and give it bubbles.
  • Pour into your favourite cup and enjoy!
