Our social world is constantly bombarded with images of societally-approved beauty; models, products, diets, and more. It can be a challenge to wade through all the constantly changing social ideas. As my life has evolved to become deeply rooted in the earth, holistic and clean, there are some products you will always find in my makeup bag. One of the biggest ideals that I follow is shopping locally. Most holistic, small businesses are the cleanest, have the least amount of processes and therefore the products are passing through fewer hands: from garden to bottle in cleaner steps.
Holistic Beauty – My Top 3 Products
Beauty
I want to look and feel good in my makeup. I also don’t want to have to reapply at multiple times throughout the day. I want to place and go! I rely on 100% Pure ® Luminous Primer to set my makeup for an all-day glow.
What it has:
- Aloe: Not only is Aloe antibacterial and antifungal, but it is also soothing and healing to the skin.
- Vitamin E: Tocopheral is excellent for free radical protection.
- Resveratrol: An antioxidant that provides anti-ageing supports as it soaks into your skin.
What it doesn’t have:
- Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate: Used as a UV filter, tests have shown it to produce excess reactive oxygen species that can interfere with cellular signalling, and lead to possible cell death.
- Isoparaffins: Mineral oils derived from petroleum, considered a pesticide by the EPA.
- cyclopentasiloxane: Gives the face a temporary plump look, may cause mild skin and eye irritation.

Skin Care
The most important step in my skincare routine is ensuring proper hydration. Internally, that consists of drinking lots of water, eating green veggies and getting in daily exercise to sweat it out. Externally, what I put on my skin is just as important to me. My number one go-to beauty product is The Dew by Belmondo skincare.
What it has:
- Organic Olive Oil picked fresh from the Owners family orchards in Italy.
- No alcohol, GMO’s, petroleum-based products, parabens, or synthetic fragrances.
- Packaged in recyclable glass containers.
What it doesn’t have:
- Low-grade, plastic packaging that ends up in a landfill polluting the earth.
- Synthetic, petroleum or mineral based oils, by-products of petroleum production.
- Parabens and sulphates, which interfere with the production and release of hormones.

Dental Care
I feel that a smile is what brings out the beauty in everyone. Our teeth help feed our body and keeping them healthy is important both physically and mentally. I love them enough to care for them holistically. So I created my own toothpaste without chemicals, artificial flavourings or fluoride.
My Recipe
- ½ cup high-fractionated coconut oil
- 1 tsp organic baking soda
- Organic wintergreen essential oil to taste
Combine all ingredients in a small glass jar. Use a spoon or popsicle stick to apply to a toothbrush to keep germs out of your jar.
