My 10 Favourite Items At The Bulk Store!

December 11, 2017

I LOVE a good bulk store! It’s a great place to stock up on healthy staples for your kitchen (that is, of course, if you can resist the tempting sights and smells of the candy aisles). These are my favourite items to bring home so I can make my own tasty treats and stay clear of the gummy worms!

My 10 Favourite Items At The Bulk Store!

Raw Nuts – There’s often so many preservatives and inflammatory oils in packaged nuts, so I buy them raw and either enjoy them plain, or roast them at home. This way I know exactly what goes into them and I can mix up the flavours every time with different spices. My favourites are almonds, cashews, and walnuts.

Almond flour (ground almonds) – This can get pretty pricey in the grocery store, so I love buying it in bulk because I can take exactly how much I want, and none will go to waste. It’s a good flour substitute for gluten-free, or low-carb baking.

Coconut flour – Also used in gluten-free/grain-free/paleo recipes. Can be an excellent substitute for flour when breading chicken! Roasted Coconut Strips – Not the chips in the package that have added sugars, but the strips! They’re in the bins. Delicious on their own as a healthy snack, or in a homemade granola recipe!

Flaxseeds – Full of healthy Omega-3’s and high in fiber, these little seeds are a great addition to your muffin and cookie recipes.

Hemp seeds – Protein, fiber, and healthy fat, all in one little seed! I love to add a spoonful or two to my salads and smoothies.

Spices – A good bulk store will have every spice you can possibly imagine! Sometimes a recipe will call for a teaspoon of something that you just can’t find at your local grocery store, but chances are you’ll find it in bulk. The best part is, if you only want a teaspoon, that’s all you have to buy!

Goji berries – I usually stay away from dried fruits because of the sugar content, but this superfood is packed with so many health benefits, that it finds it’s way into my trail mix once in awhile.

Collagen Peptides Powder – This is my go-to protein powder! It’s packed with amino acids and contains no fillers. Similar to beef gelatin, except the collagen peptide powder easily dissolves in hot AND cold liquids, and has virtually no taste so it’s easy to add to your morning coffee or smoothie.

Organic Dark Chocolate – Because we all need a little treat once in awhile!
