Winter can bring about a lot of challenges for our health; colds, flu, lack of vitamin D and on top of it all dry itchy skin. Every winter my family suffers from dryer skin and I am going to share a few ways to combat it.
When the weather turns we start running a humidifier keeping the air around us more humid not only helps the moisture in our skin but clearing out congestion from winter colds. Occasionally I will add a spoon full of coconut oil to their baths. I make lotion with shea butter, coconut oil and vitamin E. By making it myself I can ensure there are no harmful chemicals or alcohols which can make the skin even dryer!
Combating dry skin doesn’t only happen from the outside, there are many things you can eat to help keep your skin healthy. Staying away from refined grains and sugars will help reduce inflammation keeping your body ready to help itself. Taking Vitamin E, Vitamin D, and fish oil or flax seed oil helps heal your skin from the inside out.
I have attached a recipe for Winter Gummies below, this recipe can help boost your immune system and hydrate dry skin.
