Typically, during the colder months of the year, I unfortunately develop colds, sore throats and sniffles. Illness can certainly hinder everyday tasks, makes you feel uncomfortable, fatigued and even causing distress on the digestive system. Plus, being sick is certainly not ideal when you work and engage in every day activities around the house. The best way I find to keep stubborn colds and sinus symptoms at bay are to focus on antioxidants like vitamin C, anti-inflammatories like omega-3’s and digestive enzymes like bromelain!
I usually use this recipe when I feel myself getting sick, it is by far one of my favorite smoothie bowls I have created!
Cold-Fighting Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients
- ½ cup almond milk
- 1 cup kefir
- ½ cup frozen blueberries
- ½ cup pineapple (frozen)
- ¼ cup dragon fruit (frozen)
- ½ a banana (frozen)
- 2 stocks purple kale or regular kale
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp cacao nibs
Directions
- Add all ingredients to the blender, except for almond milk, chia seeds and cacao nibs. Add the almond milk ¼ cup at a time to ensure that all ingredients are blended together
- Sprinkle chia seeds and cacao nibs on top
Tips: I love to add some granola on top of my smoothie bowls for extra nutrients and a crunch!
