Frequently Asked Questions

A Few of Our Most Commonly Asked Questions:

1) HOW LONG ARE THE DIPLOMA PROGRAMS?

The courses in each term are self-paced and as such, the length of courses varies based on how much time you have available for your studies. The maximum time frame allowed for both the Holistic Nutrition & Health Coach certification program and the Holistic Nutritionist certification is 12 months each and we provide recommended time frames for each individual course within the program to help keep you on track.  The additional courses included within some of our program packages such as the Business Blueprint and any of the specialization courses are not factored into core program timeframes.  You will have extra time to complete these once you finish the program.

2) CAN I COMPLETE IT SOONER THAN THE TIME FRAME GIVEN?

Absolutely! You can complete sooner if you have more time than the average student to study. The time frames given are based on taking into consideration working professionals.

We have allowed ample time for completion. More study time = quicker completion.

3) WHAT IS THE AVERAGE COMPLETION TIME PER COURSE?

This varies based on how much time a student has available for their studies. The first course, for example, can be completed over a couple of weeks or may take the recommended two months depending on time management, previous subject knowledge, and learning styles.  We have guided recommendations throughout the program to help you stay on track.

4) WHAT WILL MY DESIGNATION STATE & WHAT CREDENTIALS WILL I HAVE?

Upon completion of tier 1: Holistic Nutrition & Health Coach Certification grads will receive a diploma and the “Certified Holistic Nutrition Coach (CHNC)” designation.

You will also be eligible for professional designations and membership via the following industry organizations:

Upon completion of tier 2:  Advanced Program grads will receive an advanced diploma and the “Certified Holistic Nutritionist (CHN)” designation.

You will also be eligible for professional designations and membership via the following industry organizations:

5) WHO RECOGNIZES THE PROGRAM?

There must be consistency and regulations when it comes to the curriculum schools offer to ensure you are getting the education you deserve and this can be a very confusing area to navigate.

This industry is unregulated from a government perspective but is industry regulated in a sense within the private sector by professional industry organizations that have stepped up to set industry standards and help ensure very strict curriculum requirements are met by schools.

The industry governing bodies come have specific criteria schools have to meet to allow graduates to obtain professional membership, a registration number, liability insurance, and the use of the designation they provide (see question #4).

As noted above in question #4, we are recognized by various organizations including the National Association of Nutrition Professionals, Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners, the Canadian Association for Integrative Nutrition, and the Health Coach Alliance.

6) ARE THE PROGRAMS ONLY RECOGNIZED IN CANADA AND THE U.S.?

While a large portion of our students are based in Canada and the U.S., we also have many students from countries all over the world. The designation you receive through our school and the organizations that recognize our curriculum allows you to work anywhere.

We have some graduates who literally travel the world seeing clients locally and virtually living an amazing and adventurous lifestyle. The beauty of this industry is that it opens up so many possibilities to live, work, and create a successful business anywhere.

7) ARE THE COURSES OFFERED COMPLETELY ONLINE?

Yes, all of the individual courses within the Holistic Nutrition & Health Coach Certification Program and the Advanced Holistic Nutritionist Program are entirely online to give you the flexibility to study anywhere, at any time.  The Tier 1 Holistic Nutritionist and Health Coach program consists of 4 terms and the Holistic Nutritionist program consists of 7 terms.  A variety of subjects are covered within each term.

Each term has its own set of lesson tests and a final exam at the end which are all done online. The curriculum is a combination of books, printable lessons, downloadable materials, interactive presentations, audio downloads, and videos.

Our online nutrition certification offers complete convenience and flexibility. It was designed to fit any schedule and with busy people in mind.

8) IS THERE A PRACTICUM?

No practicum.  Instead, we have integrated a series of case study assignments into the program that must be completed prior to graduation.  This works best for our global community as it would be impossible to arrange official practicums in all locations.  The case studies are an effective way to get practical hands-on experience.

During the case studies section found in the Meal Planning & Coaching Skills course, you will be working with ‘clients’ (which can be family and/or friends), and will be going through the in-depth intake, assessment, and recommendations process.

These in-depth case studies are submitted online in the Online Learning Center for grading. This allows our team to interact with students, provide meaningful feedback and ensure you are on the right track.

9) WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TUITION?

Tuition includes all of the in-house study materials for the program including downloadable materials, videos, and audio downloads in select lessons. Some courses within each term, such as Anatomy & Physiology, provide additional resources including interactive online animations to help support your studies.  The programs also include exams, complete online nutrition programs for clients, a student support team Monday – Friday 9 am until 3 pm, meal plans, and a complete business blueprint to make transitioning into a meaningful career as easy as possible.

We have various program packages, for a complete list please refer to the specific program page.  This is a very comprehensive program and as such you will be required to spend a lot of time reading, testing, and writing exams.   There are also case studies required to wrap up Tier 1 and two research papers required to wrap up Tier 2.

Students are only required to purchase two textbooks for the Holistic Nutrition & Health Coach program; one for Principals of Holistic Health and one for the Nutrition Sciences course – everything else is included.

The first textbook will be required roughly 2-3 months into the program with a cost in the $30-$40 range, and the second textbook roughly 6 months into the program with a cost in the $80-120 range (depending on your format preference) so students do not have to worry about acquiring the books right away. We have provided links in the student account for easy ordering through Amazon for paper copies and links to the publisher for e-book copies. Students can also check with their local library as it may be possible to borrow the books for the duration of the course.

For the Advanced Holistic Nutritionist Program (tier 2), Anatomy & Physiology requires one extra book; Mind/Body Nutrition and Symptomatology/Pathology each requires two additional books.

10) DO I PAY TAX ON THE TUITION?

Recognized schools in Canada have the option of applying for GST exemption which is passed on to the students upon registering. We have taken the time to do so for you, and therefore as a Revenue Canada recognized school, you pay NO tax on tuition.

11) I AM NOT VERY COMPUTER SAVVY, IS THE PROGRAM EASY TO NAVIGATE?

The Online Learning Center is very user-friendly and extremely easy to navigate. Our students range in age from people in their 20’s to 70’s and we have yet to have anyone who struggled with the technology. Each nutrition course in the program has its own online course in the learning center.

Students receive a user id and password upon registration, and once they log in they will see a list of the courses available to them. Students work through each course in order, completing all required lesson tests and exams. Grades are stored in the individual student accounts online and are easily accessible for students to view their progress throughout the program.

Upon registration, you will receive a video orientation that walks you through all of the features in the online learning center.   To learn more about what to expect, visit our resource section under “Prospective Students” in the navigation bar and click on the “E-Learning Center” article, or click HERE.

12) HOW MUCH DO NUTRITION/HEALTH COACHES AND HOLISTIC NUTRITIONISTS MAKE?

While we cannot make any guarantees about income, we can give you an idea of the rage based on feedback from grads, and our experience in the industry.  Income levels vary from person to person and are determined by many factors not limited to motivation, business knowledge, confidence, networking, and overall effort put into building one’s business.

The range is wide and on average can fall anywhere from $30,000 to $100,000 +  per year. Hourly rates with clients on average range from $80-$160 in the nutrition and health industry.

If you decide to implement a group model and/or online programs, your earning potential increased exponentially as you are not limited to a 1:1 ratio and “x” amount of working hours per day.   Multiple streams of revenue is key to creating flexibility that allows you to earn income while on vacation, or during your off days.

How much you make depends on what you choose to do with your education and how you structure and market your business. North America is in a health crisis with the health care system overrun by preventable disease which stems directly from diet, and lifestyle choices.

Health and wellness is a TRILLION dollar industry.  Nutrition & Health Practitioners are needed now more than ever before – the opportunity is there for you to create an amazing career, and the possibilities are endless.

We teach you how to position yourself for success in the Nutrition Business Blueprint.

13) IS THERE SUPPORT AS I GO THROUGH THE PROGRAM?

Absolutely!  We have an amazing team at our nutrition school who are here to support you during your educational journey and beyond. Our support staff are available Monday – Friday 9am-3pm.

You can also connect with other students in the program via the Live Chat Rooms and Topic-Based Forums in the Online Learning Center. You will never feel like you are alone during your studies.

We also make ourselves available for long-term support for our graduates – once you are a part of our family, you are welcome to call or email us anytime if you have any questions about your practice.

14) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HOLISTIC NUTRITION COACH AND A HOLISTIC NUTRITIONIST?

In addition to the courses you have taken to become a Holistic Nutrition & Health Coach, Holistic Nutritionists must also take anatomy & physiology, biology, nutritional pathology and more in-depth symptomatology. Holistic Nutritionists are trained to work with more complex cases such as people who may be on a cocktail of medications, and/or have chronic medical conditions.

Nutrition Coaches and Holistic Nutritionists do many of the same things: consults, online programs, meal plans, lifestyle recommendations, providing group sessions, corporate wellness, nutrition guidance, blogging, creating ebooks, recipe books, and more.

The Holistic Nutrition Coach Certification is a great first step to becoming a Holistic Nutritionist if you decide to go further in your education. Many of our grads find that they are able to do what they envisioned and stay with the Nutrition Coach Certification, while others continue on.

The beauty of our structure is the NutraPhoria Holistic Nutrition Coach Certification is fully transferable as year 1 of the Holistic Nutritionist Program at any point down the road. Those who do transfer their courses over can work as a Holistic Nutrition Coach the entire time they are working through tier 2/year 2 gaining experience and expertise because the initial certification has already been obtained.

15) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HEALTH COACH, AND NUTRITION COACH?

This is a great question! There are varying certifications offered at many schools which have different core focuses which is why students should really do their research before embarking on their educational journey.

Even the most popular health coach training programs tend to overlook the much-needed in-depth holistic nutrition aspect, where most nutrition coach training tends to overlook the mind/body/spirit and coaching aspects.

So what is a student to do? That is precisely why this program was created – to cover both necessary elements for overall optimal health.

The NutraPhoria Nutrition AND Health Coach Certification has a core focus on holistic nutrition, how nutrients interact with body systems, disease prevention, rebooting the body from the inside out and so much more. Nutrients and diet affect not only basic health but also motivation, concentration, productivity, sleep, energy levels, stress levels, etc.

If you are going to be coaching someone, this is a pretty big deal. Our coaching program has the most comprehensive nutrition training in the industry.

But…we didn’t stop there!

We took the program a step further and added key elements of overall health coaching, lifestyle modifications, mind/body nutrition, the psychology of change, and overall wellness coaching to our program because what we know is that nutrition is only one part (albeit a huge part) of the equation. Our certification teaches students how to help others find overall balance in their life while nurturing their mind, body, and spirit through meaningful lifestyle changes.

Finding balance in one’s life, organizing thoughts, reducing stress levels, changing mindsets, increasing self-worth, and positive behaviours are all important elements left out of many nutrition-only programs, while comprehensive nutrition training is left out of most health & wellness coach certifications. The NutraPhoria Nutrition & Health Coach Certification is where all sides join together – our graduates are qualified as health AND nutrition coaches. This is HUGE.

And…we also include nutrition business training to help you be the best you can possibly be.

16) HOW MANY COURSES ARE IN THE DIPLOMA PROGRAMS?

17) DO I RECEIVE A DIPLOMA?

Yes!  Students receive a beautiful, professionally stamped Diploma after successfully completing all courses.

18) IS THERE A FINAL EXAM FOR THE WHOLE PROGRAM?

There are lesson tests after each chapter in each course, and a final exam at the end of each section. At the end of all courses are case studies that we find more effective than an overall final exam to ensure our students can apply what they have learned to real-life scenarios.

19) IS THERE A MINIMUM PASSING GRADE TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM?

Yes, students must achieve a minimum grade of 80% on their courses to pass. The grade is based on a lesson test average and final exam mark.

20) WHAT IF I CAN’T COMPLETE THE PROGRAM IN 12 MONTHS?

Not to worry, life happens sometimes and we understand that. Students have extension options available at the end of 12 months if they require more time. We do require an official request via email outlining the extenuating circumstances that prevented completion.

21) IF I CHOOSE ONE OF YOUR SPECIALIZATION PACKAGES, DO I HAVE TO CHOOSE WHAT COURSE I AM SPECIALIZING IN WHEN I REGISTER?

You do not have to decide right away what specialization course you want to take. With all of the amazing information you will be learning during the program, you may find you change your mind a couple of times along the way. The specialization course is taken upon completion of the program, which allows you to decide at that time which niche interests you most.

22) I HAVE NO BACKGROUND IN NUTRITION, CAN I STILL ENROLL?

Yes!  We have students from a diverse range of backgrounds and ages taking the program from all over the world. Many are transitioning from a completely unrelated field and others are using it to complement their current profession.

Our nutrition courses and programs were designed strategically to begin with an introductory course and gradually get more complex with each section. Those with no previous nutrition knowledge do just fine and absolutely love what they learn in the program.

23) ARE THERE ANY PREREQUISITES REQUIRED?

Aside from a passion for nutrition & wellness, a genuine desire to help others, and the drive to create positive change in the world; we require our students to be over 18 years of age.

24) IS THERE A DISCOUNT IF I PURCHASE ALL OF THE INDIVIDUAL COURSES AT ONCE?

Yes, each individual course is $499-$649, but when you enroll in one of the full program packages, you receive a significant discount over enrolling in one course at a time.   Visit our Programs & Courses page to learn more.

25) WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE THIS SCHOOL OVER OTHERS?

That is entirely up to you. Let us explain: ask yourself what you felt while navigating through our website and reading about the courses. Does it resonate with you? Does it get you excited? Does it cover the topic areas of study you would expect in a program like this? Does the passion we have for what we do come across?

You have an innate ability to instinctively know when something is right for you. Trust it. You would have known if this is the right school for you the moment you began reading about the program. We want our students to ‘get’ our vision, and we don’t want you to have any doubts; so take your time, ensure you feel comfortable with your choice and once you do – don’t waste one more second thinking about it, start your journey and change your life today.

From a comparative perspective, the NutraPhoria Holistic Nutrition Coach Certification Program is a very thorough and in-depth mix of holistic nutrition & lifestyle topics mixed with science, research and experience-based teachings. We can confidently say it is the MOST COMPREHENSIVE online nutrition & health coach program being offered anywhere. It was designed by professionals who have been working in the industry for many years – this gives our program a unique perspective and advantage because nobody knows better what is required than those who have direct experience. Without that…it is just theory.

We ensure our students transition with ease into a career they will love. The program covers all of the critical nutrition topics, coaching skills, & meal planning, to ensure you feel confident enough in your knowledge to be at ease and collaborate with anyone from clients, experts, and groups, to professionals in the medical community. The last thing you want is to find yourself lost in conversation with peers or other professionals. It also offers a business section at the very end that is lacking in most other programs.

The top reasons people fail in this business is lack of confidence (due to courses not being thorough enough), and lack of knowledge about marketing, networking, social media, web presence & promotion. If people don’t know you exist, they can’t be your client. We want to give you your BEST chance at success.

It is confusing out there! One school says you don’t need much nutrition-specific training because health coaching is all about changing habits and lifestyle; while another school says the complete opposite. What gives? This is where you want to do your research. You want to ensure you will graduate with your ideal future in mind with the expertise to provide your clients with the best possible solutions for their health.

The good news for you is that the Nutraphoria School of Holistic Nutrition program comprehensively covers all facets of holistic living: mind, body & spirit. Nutrition, lifestyle and changing habits are equally important in a healthy, balanced life with nutrition being one of the most important influencers of overall health.

Whatever program you choose, make sure it is well-rounded and comprehensive or you will find yourself struggling with confidence – not a place anyone wants to be.

26) WHAT CAN I DO WITH MY CERTIFICATION?

We LOVE this question! Many students enrolled are adding nutrition to a complementary profession (ie personal trainers, nurses, life coaches, massage therapists, addictions counsellors, yoga instructors, teachers, etc) or are people who want to start their own business, make their own hours and have the flexibility of self-employment.   To get inspired, visit the “Your Career” page within the Prospective Students resource section.
