Meet Health & Wellness Coach and NutraPhoria Alumni, Dionne Reed of Radiance Coaching & Wellness!
Dionne Reed’s path into holistic wellness is a powerful blend of intuition, education, and lived experience. With a background in marketing and certifications spanning nutrition, mindset coaching, breathwork, and more, she’s built a practice that supports her clients on a multitude of levels. Her work, centred around nervous system regulation and stress management, is a beautiful reflection of how deeply interconnected our physiology and emotional well-being truly are. Dionne’s approach is a reminder that holistic nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all, and her presence in this space is making a meaningful impact.
Can you share a bit about your background, specialization, and what first inspired you to pursue holistic nutrition?
My formal education is actually in Marketing, but I’ve always been interested in health and wellness, and I grew up in a family that was open to trying new things to improve their health.
In 2018 (after years of thinking about it), I signed up to take a Foot Reflexology Course and completed it in spring of 2019. As I talked with clients during their treatments, I noticed I was having a lot of conversations around nutrition. I always want to be as prepared and educated as possible so I began looking into nutrition courses, and found Nutraphoria. I was working full time in marketing, and doing reflexology 2-3 evenings a week so the self-instructed style of the program worked great for me.
As I was working through completing the Holistic Nutrition diploma with Nutraphoria, I also became a certified life and success coach, breathwork facilitator, EFT practitioner, and a few other amazing somatic and mindset tools that have helped me and my clients. As I’ve learned more and had more life experience, I have begun to focus more on stress management and nervous system regulation which tie my many certifications and trainings together.
Nutrition is a fundamental part of everything I do because planning meals can be a stressor, so I create recipe books and meal plans that make my clients’ lives easier so they can focus on other areas of life. It’s also important because how we fuel our body is connected to how we think, feel, and manage our day-to-day lives. And many times, I talk to clients about their nutrition, and we dive deeper into stress, overwhelm, and their nervous system.
What’s your unique approach to holistic nutrition, and how does it shape the way you support your clients?
My approach is don’t overcomplicate it. I am a huge advocate for balance and ease – I will never recommend a client to do a hugely restrictive diet when I know they are already stressed and struggling to even make meals at home. I always want to work WITH my clients to create a plan and program that works for them and their life. I also use other tools with my clients like mindset, breathwork and EFT tapping, so that we can get into the ‘why’ behind some things that they may think are related to their diet but actually go deeper.
How has your perspective on health and wellness changed or evolved since studying Holistic Nutrition?
I’m definitely more cognizant of what I put in my body and expose myself to, and I feel like I pay more attention to how I feel and how food, drinks, and products impact me.
Since becoming a holistic nutrition professional, what’s one habit or daily ritual you’ve implemented that has had the biggest impact on your well-being?
Plan and prepare snacks!! I always make sure I have some type of healthy (ish) snack with me. This helps me stay level (mentally, emotionally, and my blood sugar) and prevents me from ‘grabbing something quick’ that I know won’t make me feel good.
How do you stay inspired and continue growing in the ever-evolving world of holistic wellness?
The holistic wellness world has changed so much over the last few years and with the growth of social media, it’s sometimes hard to discern real facts from people sharing their experience with no education to back it. For myself, I always take time to look into the topics and try them myself before adding it to my services. I truly think having an open mind, but also sticking to what you know is important. It’s easy to jump from trend to trend but if it isn’t something you truly believe it, it won’t be successful.
If you could give one piece of advice to current students or recent graduates, what would it be?
You’re doing amazing!! Be proud of yourself for putting in the work.
What’s next for you? Any exciting projects, goals, or new directions for your wellness practice?
I am revamping some of my coaching packages and offerings so that feels really exciting! I’m also completing an Organizational Mindfulness course and will be offering more corporate and workplace wellness which I know is needed. I am also excited to host and collaborate on in-person events later this year to bring holistic wellness practices to more people who may not be in the online space.
