4 Tips to a Happier Life
Think About Good Things
My children occasionally come into my room at night and tell me they are scared. I remind them that choosing to redirect their thoughts, to good things, will help them not focus on their fear. Even as adults, it is easy to allow a negative situation take over our thoughts. If you entertain those thoughts they will only bring stress, anxiety and even anger. So let that negativity go and think about something that brings joy to your heart.
Change Your Perspective
Oh my goodness! This has been a big lesson in my life. I had a friend one time that really pushed me to my edge. I spent about two weeks dwelling on my aggravation. Thankfully, I remembered Step 1 and chose to think differently. I realized that focusing on the negative was on killing me. I needed to change my perspective. You have to make changes to yourself if you want to grow. Do not try to change everyone else to fit your needs or you will always be miserable. You will be surprised how much joy comes when you are choosing to work on YOU and not everyone else.
Exercise
Besides all the physical improvements, exercise is also known to improve your mood. If you are feeling sluggish, grab your family and take a walk around the block together. Go on a bike ride. Find something fun to do. If you dread what you choose, you will likely not do it very long.
Eat Healthier
If you are like me, you choose convenience over health. I am now having to retrain myself to plan out our family menu for the week. This has been the key for me. It takes time that I don’t usually have, but the more you do it, the more you realize how important it is.
So on my journey, I am happier, healthier and raising littles who are the same. Good luck on your journey!
