5 Amazing Benefits of Nettle Tea
I love tea and those who know me know that I do not go a day without a big mug of hot steamy tea. I love drinking tea not only because it keeps me warm on cold days but because I love the amazing benefits of them. After a big meal I love to sip on some tea to help me digest while sitting on the couch watching my favorite shows. There are all kinds of teas out there starting from the most popular one- green tea, then there’s black tea, white tea, peppermint tea, etc.… I could go on for days. I love them all for their individual taste and amazing benefits but I am here to talk to you about the most recent tea I have been drinking for about a year now and that is nettle tea. This tiny herb is packed with many health benefits and is so nutritious for you.
Nettle leaves are powerful herbal medicine. They grow abundantly in the wild. The leaves and stems can be eaten raw, juiced, cooked or like me have them in a tea. I purchase the dry leaves which have a strong taste to them and could be slightly bitter when steeped for a long time. You can always mix your teas like I do or add some honey but I prefer drinking my teas as is.
These tiny herbs are rich in chlorophyll and minerals such as iron, chromium, zinc, copper, magnesium, silicon, cobalt and calcium. Nettles are also high in vitamins such as vitamin A, E, D, C and K. Nettles have incredible healing properties.
Here is a list of just a few of their many amazing benefits and why I love them so much!
- POWERFUL CLEANSING PROPERTIES – Nettles are beneficial in boosting the liver and prevent urinary tract infections as well as bladder and kidney stones. Nettle is known as a diuretic. They help cleanse the kidneys of toxins. They are beneficial for eliminating waste from our entire body. Flushing any unwanted toxins from our muscles and lymphatic system. That means if you are feeling bloated, nettle is the best option to reduce the discomfort and maybe help with weight loss! Now that sounds good to me!
- AIDS IN SKIN PROBLEMS – Nettles contain anti-inflammatory agents. So they’re great for those who suffer from skin problems such as rashes or eczema. Because the nettles contain high amounts of chlorophyll, it gives them alkalinizing and detoxifying properties, thus potentially treating skin problems.
- ANTIBACTERIAL & ANTIFUNGAL– Nettles are powerful enough to eliminate viral and bacterial infections. They are helpful in relieving chronic coughing and chest congestion. It’s a great herb to ingest especially if u live in colder climates or are susceptible to getting sick. Bring it on winter!
- BENEFICIAL FOR WOMEN – Nettles are anti-radiation wild plant that are amazing at treating the adrenal glands and other parts of the endocrine system. Because we are always surrounded by toxic pollutants in the air or from the food we eat it can disrupt our hormones. Nettles are great for our reproductive system. They enhance egg production by supporting the follicle-stimulating hormone that’s vital to producing an ovum. They also rid the body of toxic estrogen that has entered the body from pollutants.
- BONE GROWTH– Nettles are rich in silica which aid in bone-building and bone-protection. Nettles have more than 40 trace minerals. Nettles can help those who suffer from arthritis because of the anti-inflammatory properties that the herb contains.
Drinking tea is all the rage now especially with their individually incredible benefits. If you are on the path of eating right and making healthy choices, incorporating nettle tea is a must!
Start sipping!
