8 Racy Foods To Rev Up A Woman’s Sex Drive

December 19, 2018

Lacking a little bit of lustre in the libido department? It happens. As women, we are so good at nurturing and caring for other people, we seem to be last on our own list! Especially when it comes to looking at ways to spice up our erotic sense of self – the basis of our femininity and foxiness!

So, what can we do about it from a nutrition standpoint? Might seem like a strange question because we don’t tend to think about curing our sexual woes with food. But, trust me, these 8 foods listed below will put the L back in your Love and Lust department.

Take a moment for yourself, recharge, read and hopefully you can take away something easy and not hard to do to make you feel feminine, beautiful and ready for some fun!

8 Racy Foods To Rev Up A Woman’s Sex Drive

Red Wine

It’s always fun to start with this one! A glass or two of red wine is sure to increase your sexual desire. The plentiful antioxidants in red wine help to release nitric oxide in the body which in turn relaxes the artery walls which means an increase in blood flow. And, guess what? It’s ALL about the blood flow going to our nether regions when arousal occurs! (Just keep it to 1-2 glasses…)

Fatty Fish

As much as this doesn’t sound sexy, fatty fish is the way to go to get a good dose of essential Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3’s are known for their health benefits, especially for the heart, but they are also know for increasing the release of Dopamine in the brain. Dopamine not only increases our feeling of relaxation but it also triggers that magical increase in circulation and blood flow which is key in triggering arousal.

Spinach

When your mother told you to eat your spinach, I bet she didn’t think about this: This powerhouse green vegetable contains a very high amount of Magnesium which helps to decrease the inflammation in our body which increases… you guessed it! BLOOD FLOW! When we have increased blood flow it travels easily down to our extremities.

Avocados

Green, high in healthy fats and full of vitamins and minerals including a good dose of Vitamin E. Back in tha’ day – the Aztec day, that is – avocados were considered a powerful aphrodisiac. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects our sex hormones from oxidation. It also helps to increase blood flow. This increase in circulation can also help to stimulate a woman’s natural vaginal lubricants. ( A little side note ladies, that Avocados are also known for their Glutathione content – a powerful antioxidant that can help increase your man’s strength and endurance in the bedroom).

Watermelon

Water-filled, light and perfect for a pre-romp snack! Watermelon contains a compound called Citrulline – a non-essential amino acid/antioxidant that is considered nature’s libido booster. Citrulline, which is broken down into the amino acid, Arginine, helps to increase blood flow in both women and men. In fact, Citrulline has been known to be helpful in some cases of erectile dysfunction.

Nuts & Seeds

Oh, the power of nuts in the bedroom… seriously. Pine nuts, specifically, have a very high content of Zinc which helps to increase the level of testosterone in our bodies and testosterone, in turn, causes that rev in our sex drive! Pumpkin seeds are also a high in Zinc as well as Magnesium – another mineral which helps to increase testosterone.

Shellfish

It would be a crime to omit one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs on the planet, even if they are squishy, slimy, soft things. OYSTERS – A virtual cornucopia of libido-enhancing nutrients in a shell. They contain high amounts of Zinc and the rare amino acids D-Aspartic Acid/N-Methyl-D-Aspartate which all help to increase testosterone levels in women (and men) and therefore, increase their sexual appetite. Go oysters go!

Dark Chocolate

There’s a reason dark chocolate is the “food of love”. Chocolate is a powerful aphrodisiac that contains Phenylalanine, which is a neurotransmitter and stimulant. It floods the regions of the brain involved in sexual excitement. Not only that, but dark chocolate contains high amounts of flavonoids which help to decrease stress, increase relaxation and therefore, get that blood flow going!

So, what’s your day going to look like tomorrow (wink)? You could start off with a lovely watermelon and pumpkin seed salad… Perhaps have a spinach and avocado salad topped with salmon…Maybe snack on some dark chocolate accompanied by a glass of red wine. Now THAT is a day sure to put some L back in your Libido!

Happy, healthy eating to you!
