Benefits of Coconut Oil on the Skin

November 27, 2016

Do you suffer from bad breakouts no matter how many acne products and regimines you try? Are you tired of spending $$$ on facial products that don’t work? Having suffered from hormonal acne for the last 5 years of my life, I’ve tried every acne product under the sun to try and rid of these breakouts. ProActiv, Murad, Accutane (prescription), Clinique Acne solutions, are just some of them to name a few.

As a last resort, I decided to make my own scrub, using coconut oil, lavender drops, and raw honey. Because coconut oil is an anti-inflammatory I felt it would be a great addition to my skin regime. I have also added in other natural skin solutions such as sweet almond oil for moisturizer, vitamin E oil (excellent anti-aging oil) for my eye moisturizer, and apple cider vinegar and water (to balance out the PH of my skin) for an astringent.

The difference on my skin has been amazing! My redness was almost gone, my breakouts were much less inflamed, and my skin looked clearer. Although my skin is not 100% clear, it is honestly the best my face has looked in years! You can also use this same regime on the rest of the body too.

Coconut oil is an anti-inflammatory and although it is best eaten, it works wonders on the skin to reduce inflammation. In addition to its anti-inflammatory benefits, it also aids in weight loss, reduces stretch marks, aids in digestion and provides you with a good source of Omega 3.

Coconut Facial and Body Scrub:

  • 1/4 cup cold-pressed virgin or extra virgin coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp of raw honey
  • 5-7 drops of lavender oil

Mix the ingredients until there is a smooth consistency with no lumps. Place in a mason jar or container and keep in your bathroom!

Astringent:

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of water

Mix and place in a plastic spray bottle. Use after you wash your face with the coconut scrub!

Moisturizer:

Use the almond oil and vitamin E oil afterwards for moisturizer. Vitamin E helps with anti-aging on the skin and helps to reduce puffiness under the eyes.
