Cookies & Cream Protein Oats Bowl

February 16, 2018

When you hear the word oatmeal or porridge, it doesn’t sound very exciting. Growing up in my house, a staple was “Quaker Oats” oatmeal with milk and brown sugar… Pretty plain and boring. The added sugar & 2% milk wasn’t exactly the most nutritional ingredients to throw in either. Now I have found a passion for cooking nutritious meals that not only nurture me with all the vitamins and minerals my body needs but also satisfies my taste buds.

There is so many creative and diverse oatmeal recipes out there in today’s world that it’s impossible not eat anything but bowls of delicious grains, packed with healthy toppings! This recipe that I’m sharing with you today is one of my favourite variations of a protein/fiber packed oatmeal bowl. If you’re like me and hit the weights hard, you need long lasting sustainable energy to not only give you that extra strength in the gym but also help you make it through the rest of your day. Simple & quick, this bowl has all the carbs and protein you need!

Cookies & Cream Protein Oats Bowl

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dry Organic Rolled Oats or your favourite cooking oats. (I specifically use organic gluten free rolled oats by “only oats”.)
  • 1/2 scoop of your favourite protein powder. ( I use Cookies & Cream Diesel protein powder by “Perfect Sports”.)
  • 2 Tablespoons of powdered peanut butter. (I use chocolate powdered peanut butter fit mix by “I Eat Protein”.)
  • 1 small banana
  • 1/4 cup of raspberries
  • 1/4 cup low fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 Tablespoon of Chia, Buckwheat & Hemp Cereal mix
  • Optional: Mini dark chocolate chips to top it off

Directions

  • Cook oatmeal either in the microwave if quick cooking or on stove top
  • I recommend using oats you cook on the stove top; these oats are more easily digested
  • Let it sit and cool off for a minute or two, then mix in protein powder and peanut butter along with the yogurt
  • if you like it creamier, feel free to add more yogurt
  • Add your fruits and seeds lastly then top it off with some dark chocolate chips!
  • Super easy & delicious
