Easy to make 4 Ingredient Deodorant

August 14, 2017

Chemical free deodorant that actually works?? Yep, I said it!

When I started my mission to a healthy, cancer-free, disease free lifestyle, the first change I made was with the food I ate. That was a radical change because I didn’t ease into that transition I did a complete 180. You see in our house it truly was a matter of life and death, my husband was given 6-17 months to live so I had no time to waste. It was an incredibly difficult transition! Even though I thought we ate fairly healthy once I started digging in I realized that almost everything we were eating was full of chemicals. It took me a couple months to find meals that we actually enjoyed but I can say now that my husband and I truly do enjoy every meal.

You’re wondering what that has to do with deodorant??

Well, once I conquered the food that went into our body I knew I needed to look at what we put on our body. We started by purchasing more natural products but we found that they were expensive and didn’t always work! Not working is definitely NOT an option when it comes to deodorant, so I set out on a mission to make one that did. It wasn’t an easy mission, definitely easier than the food aspect and not as pressing since we did have the ones we could purchase, but it was one that I knew was important.

So that leads me to this, sharing the one we use daily, the one that we love, and most importantly the one that works!! And the bonus is it’s super easy to make. The only downfall, but one you will get used to, is that you have to apply it with your fingers.

So I present to you my

Shea Butter Deodorant Recipe

NutraPhoria School of Holistic Nutrition | Easy to make 4 Ingredient Deodorant

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp shea butter
  • 2 tbsp arrowroot flour or organic cornstarch
  • Essential oils 10-20 drops (optional) I usually leave them out, but tea tree oil might be nice.

Directions

  • Melt Shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler over medium heat. I use a mason jar in a pot of boiling water and then just keep that jar to use next time, it saves some time on cleanup
  • Remove from heat and mix in baking soda and arrowroot
  • Mix well add essential oils and pour into a glass container
  • Mix occasionally while you’re waiting for it to harden to avoid separation
