We live in a world with many “hidden” sugars in our foods that we are unaware of. Many things that are advertised as “healthy” aren’t due to these hidden sugars and additives in our foods which is not good for our health. As much as we all love our sugary unhealthy foods I believe we can make healthier alternatives to them making a healthier option for our beloved junk food and still make them taste great and healthy!
We all need our comfort food from time to time, and I’m a huge sucker for smoothies, so I made a yummy little recipe of a smoothie that’s great on the go for breakfast or before or after your workout.
This is a very healthy alternative to regular smoothies that are loaded with unhealthy sugars.
Here Are Some Of The Benefits
Matcha – You’ll get a kick of caffeine and is packed with antioxidants, helps lower cholesterol and blood sugar, detoxifies the body and helps boost the metabolism.
Chia Seeds – Loaded with antioxidants and fibre. They are also a good source of protein and have a good balance of essential amino acids.
Blueberries – Loaded with fibre, vitamins and antioxidants.
Banana – Contains natural sugars giving you that yummy “sweet” taste. They are also very high in vitamin C, manganese and vitamin B6.
Protein Powder – A source of protein, helps fuel your workouts
Energizing Blueberry Matcha Smoothie
Ingredients
2 tsp matcha powder
1 tsp chia seeds
1/2 cup of blueberries
1 banana
1 1/2 cups of vanilla almond milk (you can use any milk you want, vanilla soy milk is a great alternative if you don’t like almond)
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I use Vega Protein & Greens Vanilla)
Instructions
In a blender put in your milk of choice then add all the rest of the ingredients. Blend on medium for 1 minute and you’ll have a delicious smoothie!
Enjoy!
