Great Farmer’s Market Finds!
When I think of a Farmer’s market, my mental image is of tables full of fresh produce, sunshine and – well – summer … or fall, or spring … but not winter … except here in my small town, the Farmer’s market stays open year round.
I try to go every week. One February weekend, I took a photo of my purchases:
Here’s What I Bought:
2 dozen free-range eggs. Or – as mom calls them – “happy eggs from happy hens”. The egg cartons are from local grocery stores, because market-attendees bring them for the egg-lady to reuse.
A cheese pretzel for my husband. Always a fun one to take a picture of these days … since it contains gluten … and I wanted to avoid getting gluten on my hands. I love that I can buy him homemade baked goods since I no longer bake with gluten.
3 gluten-free cranberry scones, and 3 gluten-free date squares. Two of each went straight in the freezer for those times when I need a gluten-free treat. The other two were for my weekend breakfasts. It’s fantastic having a dedicated gluten-free booth at the market.
A gluten-free brownie. The only type of brownie at the market. This one was for my husband, since I’m allergic to cocoa.
Sunflower seed microgreens. Healthy and fresh. A rarity in February.
Home made bubbling Epson salts. This was a birthday present for my mom.
Home made natural hand cream. Exactly what you need for winter-dry hands.
Home made headache and sinus balms. A necessity during cold and flu season.
Eggs, baked goods, microgreens, bath treats, and hand cream. Definitely worth braving minus 20-degree Celsius weather for!
