Fasting
Fasting, the abstinence from all food. It seems like such a scary concept, but its been a universal practice in regard to illness, healing and purification.
The experience will be entirely individual but the ultimate goal is to give your body a break from new demands and allow it to deal with everything that it has been putting off. Cells and bodily systems are able to undergo repair and detoxification.
Fasting has seen to be helpful for a number of congestive conditions such as colds, flus, bronchitis, mucous congestion, and constipation.
During this time of detoxification, symptoms previously felt could be immediately alleviated or they could temporarily be intensified. Withdrawal symptoms are common especially when toxicity (headaches, irritability and fatigue). It’s said that if a symptom lasts more than two or three days it should be considered “a new problem” to which should be addressed.
Everything has its limits and food is vital to have a healthy functioning body. For some, fasting is not advised and could be detrimental instead of helpful. It is important to consult your healthcare provider before undergoing any extreme dietary change.
