Gingerbread Protein Smoothie
I’m a bit of a cookie monster especially around the holidays. I wanted to try to create a smoothie that tasted just like gingerbread and would satisfy my sweet tooth.
This smoothie is packed full of healthy ingredients like spinach, almond milk, vanilla protein, banana, molasses, and almond butter. It contains fibre, vitamin A/C/E/K, calcium, magnesium, protein, greens and healthy fat. Black strap molasses is also very nutritious and can help combat stress, promotes healthy skin and it adds a ton of flavour to this shake.
Just 1/2 a tsp of cinnamon which is an antioxidant can help with immunity, balance blood sugar, and help to improve digestion. It takes only 5 mins to make and tastes just like gingerbread!
It is great for breakfast, a snack, post workout shake, or in place of dessert in the evening.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen spinach (I freeze my spinach for smoothies as I find it blends better)
- 1.5 cups almond milk
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I like Vega Sport)
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 2 tsp molasses
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
Blend all ingredients in a blender. If you like it really thick you can add a few icecubes!
Happy Holidays!!
