Stress is our reaction to our emotions and the environment around us. It is the body’s natural response to danger, the “fight or flight” mechanisms. We do need some stress in our lives to function. Mild stress gives us that extra drive sometimes to work harder or achieve more. But both acute and chronic stress are being linked more now than ever before to disease.
When these stresses start to take a hold of us they wreak havoc on the body.
We overact to situations and start to have immune function problems, hormonal problems, and biochemical reactions. These problems start to affect our digestion tract, cardiovascular, neurological or musculosketel systems. Some symptoms include, headache, backache, infection, fatigues, depression, anxiety and even heart disease or cancer in the long term.
Everyone needs to learn how to manage the body’s response to high demands imposed on us from work, family and life in general.
Manage Means:
Ways to reduce stress:
A diet high in nutritious food is essential as the body’s cellular activity is increased therefore needs the best fuel to make it work. The best diet for people who experience stressful, busy days is to have 3-5 small meals a day, lots of water and try to rest and relax before and after a meal. Keep your B Vitamins and C Vitamin level up because they are first ones used up by the body in stressful times.
Herbs that are anti-stress:
I believe everyone needs to put themselves first. If they are not functioning optimally, they are not going to be able to put 100% of themselves into every situation. We need to take that 10 min break, eat, refuel your body, and take a few minutes to think, stretch, take a quick walk, or speak to someone whom may be bothering us. Bring it all back together so you can move forward.
Lastly, my favorite way to top the day off and slow it all down is to have a nice hot cup of chamomile tea, so I can get a good night sleep and be refreshed to take on tomorrow.
