Health Tip!!
I wanted to send out a little health tip, that I have become obsessed with.
Bromelain, found in pineapples, is a sulphur-containing enzyme has been used for over half a century as an anti-inflammatory.
- Especially useful in respiratory tract problems, like chronic bronchitis or sinusitis
- It has proven effective in post-traumatic responses and swelling after surgery
- Great for anti-aging (who wouldn’t love that); reduces tissue irritation
- Favorite to reduce joint inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis
- Easy digestible; aids in digestion of vegetable proteins
- Helps build up tissue after vigorous exercise; reduces soreness in muscles
With Bromelain being so easy to consume through pineapples, you can also receive some other added benefits that come for pineapples:
- Contain Vitamin A & C
- Contain potassium, calcium, manganese, selenium
- Prevent & treat cardiovascular disease; reducing platelet aggregation, arterial plaquing and clot formation
In our household we have started purchasing a pineapple a week, I blend it into my protein shake in the morning and sneak a little in the kids as well. It’s also available as a supplement, but always remember there is no better way to get your nutrients than to obtain it from the real source.
Tip: Get a whole pineapple and cut it up, the core is where all the nutrients are. I know they are tough to chew, so blend it up!
