Pizza, who doesn’t love it? It’s tasty, readily available and not very expensive. Unfortunately, store-bought and take-out pizzas come with a lot of unwanted unhealthy extras! A healthy pizza is really easy to make yourself from scratch using whole wheat flour instead of white flour and with loads of fresh veggies on top! This recipe does not require any rising time because it is made without yeast. I promise, you and your kids will love it!
Recipe
This recipe is inspired by ‘kristininherkitchen’: kristininherkitchen.blogspot.com/2011/09/no-yeast-pizza-dough-with-whole-wheat.html
Preparation time: less than 15 minutes
Serves: 1 large thin crust/1 medium thick crust pizza
Cooking time: 15-20 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tbsp flax seeds
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ cup oil
- 1 clove garlic
- Handful of fresh basil leaves
- Handful of sundried tomatoes
I recommend you use organic ingredients where possible.
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400F. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and knead by hand for a few minutes. Your dough should look something like in the picture.
Place the dough onto baking a sheet and press out into desired shape. Bake for 5-10 minutes (depending on how thick it is). Add tomato sauce and toppings, then bake for another 8-10 minutes, or until toppings are cooked and the edges of crust are lightly browned.
I use organic tomato sauce, crushed or fresh tomatoes, any vegetables I have in my fridge and sometimes meat or fish and of course some cheese on top.
This pizza is really easy to make and tastes delicious and as an added bonus, it is also a really fun activity to do with your kids!
Enjoy!
