Health Practitioners: Does creating consistent and engaging social media content for your wellness practice feel overwhelming?

Have no fear! With a solid strategy, you can plan an entire month’s worth of posts in just TWO days! In today’s blog, we’re sharing a simple, step-by-step guide on how you can start streamlining your content creation process, while freeing up more time to focus on your clients and growing your practice.

Step 1: Begin with Themes

The easiest way to organize your content is by breaking your month into weekly or bi-weekly themes. This provides structure and ensures variety in your posts.

Example theme ideas (Feel free to steal these for your own content strategy!):

Day in the life of a nutritionist:

  • Take your followers through your work day, from meals to client calls.

What I eat in a day (to support X goal):

  • Showcase meals you love to make to support whatever problem you help your clients solve. (For example: To boost energy, to promote gut health, hormone balance, etc.)

Debunking viral nutrition trends:

  • React to and break down misleading wellness fads. Use the green screen filter to show videos or images of viral trends (For example: Using cottage cheese for everything, the carnivore lifestyle, etc), then give your take as a wellness professional at the end. Do you give it a thumbs up, or a thumbs down? What sort of commentary can you add?

Before & after client wins (without numbers):

  • Share non-scale victories and mindset shifts (anonymously, or with your client’s permission, of course!) that you were able to help them achieve. This is why collecting testimonials and reviews as part of your client process is so important!

“What I wish I knew before becoming a nutritionist”:

  • Share the mind-blowing, or unexpected lessons you’ve learned throughout your journey of serving others in this capacity. What does your dream client who has been stalking your socials need to hear from you today to help them to see that they really CAN do this?

Try this, not that:

  • Swap common unhealthy habits for better alternatives.

3 Quick & easy meals for busy days:

  • Show how to make nourishing meals that support your dream client’s wellness goals, and that come together in minutes.

Foods to eat for X symptom:

  • Highlight foods that may help with energy, skin health, bloating, etc.

POV: You’re trying to eat healthier but… :

  • Share your dream client’s relatable struggles, but in a lighthearted way. Remember: You do not need to be perfect in order to be viewed as an authority in your industry! Of course, we want to live in integrity with what we teach, but it is equally as important to be relatable and genuine human beings.

Hidden ingredients to watch out for:

  • Educate on misleading labels, greenwashing, healthwashing, and possible ingredient swaps that can make living well for your dream client SO much easier.

Choosing a handful of themes can help to keep your messaging clear, while allowing you to align your content with your business goals. Consider what you’re currently promoting—1:1 coaching, a group program, a digital product, or perhaps even seasonal wellness needs (immune support in winter, detox support in spring). Think about your niche and what your audience needs to hear right now, and choose anywhere from 1-4 themes. Some people choose just 1-2, and create similar content in every single post, while others choose to alternate. What do you want your schedule to look like?

Step 2: Brainstorm Content Ideas

Once you have your themes picked out, brainstorm 3-5 content ideas that you can create for each. Keep it simple, and remember that your audience craves value and authenticity over perfection!

Let’s try it together!

As an example, let’s say we want to create content under the,“Debunking viral nutrition trends” theme. Here are some content ideas we might jot down for this one:

Post #1: Reaction video: “Is cottage cheese the new superfood?”

  • Use the green screen filter to react to a viral video of someone using cottage cheese in unexpected ways (e.g., ice cream, wraps).
  • Give your professional take: Is it actually a game-changer, or just another trend? What are the pros and cons?

Post #2: Myth vs. fact: “Carnivore diet for gut health?”

  • Post a side-by-side carousel where one side lists the claims made by carnivore diet supporters, the other shares science-backed facts.
  • Caption idea: “The Carnivore Diet claims to heal your gut—but does it? Let’s break down the facts vs. fiction!”
  • What’s your take? For those who have seen great success from this trend, what do you attribute to this? Do you have any concerns over the lack of fiber for microbiome diversity, or in omitting so many different types of food all at once? What are your thoughts on the benefit vs. the risk?

Post #3: Poll: “Trend or trap?”

  • Post an Instagram Story Poll asking your audience if they’ve tried certain trends (For example: Saltwater for hydration, butter in their coffee, the ketogenic diet, etc.,).
  • Follow up with a Story Q&A where you share your professional insights on each trend.

Post #4: POV: “You tried this trend… but here’s what you should know”

  • Create a relatable, first-person POV reel showing someone excitedly trying a viral wellness trend, only to realize it’s not what they expected.
  • Example: Trying greens powders for bloating, but actually feeling worse—then provide a science-backed alternative in the caption.

Post #5: Try this, not that: “Better alternatives to viral trends”

  • List three common viral health hacks that don’t quite work as promised, and provide expert-backed swaps instead.
  • Example: “Instead of lemon coffee for weight loss, try balancing blood sugar with protein-packed breakfasts that are rich in fiber!”

When choosing content ideas to fit under a theme, you can also keep them all very similar, so you never struggle to come up with ideas.

For example, if you’re a Nutritionist who specializes in women’s health, one of your post themes might be something like, “What I Eat in a Day – 30G of Protein Per-Meal for Hormone Health,” and each post might simply showcase your breakfast, lunch, and dinner, giving the breakdown of protein, calories, and fiber at the top of the video. These kinds of content do particularly well, and they are commonly saved for meal inspiration! They also show us that while our minds tend to want to over-complicate the content creation process, it is often the simplest ideas that perform the best!

Step 3: Batch Your Writing

Now that you have your themes and post ideas figured out for each, set aside a few hours to roughly draft out your copy. This includes anything you’ll write in the caption of your post, anything you’ll include on the video or graphics, and anything you’ll say in your videos. Keep your writing concise, valuable, and engaging. Most importantly, let your authentic voice shine! And remember: Every post can be broken down into 3 simple pieces: Your HOOK, your STORY, and your OFFER (or your call-to-action). Let’s look at each of these 3 sections of your caption in greater detail:

Part 1: The Hook

Your hook is the first piece of your content, which is designed to stop the viewer’s scroll. Hooks can be visual (For example: Perhaps when you first start speaking you are grabbing a cup of tea, or adjusting your camera. Perhaps you are wearing something bright, or applying lip gloss), OR hooks can be in what you way, or in the text you put over your video.

Here are 15 examples of great hooks you can use when writing your posts.:

  • “I tried this viral health trend so you don’t have to… here’s what happened. ”
  • “Everyone is doing THIS for their health, but should you? Let’s break it down. “
  • “STOP doing this if you want better gut health! “
  • “I used to believe X was supporting my health too—until I learned the truth. “
  • “STOP wasting money on this ‘healthy’ trend! Here’s something that ACTUALLY works. “
  • “The internet is OBSESSED with this health hack… but does it really work? “
  • “If you’re doing this for your health, you might be making things worse.
  •  “Let’s settle this once and for all: Does [viral trend] actually work? Let’s talk.”
  • “Unpopular opinion: This wellness trend is NOT what you think it is. “
  • “Health trend breakdown: Here’s what’s actually worth your time (and what’s not). ✅❌
  • “3 common ‘health foods’ that are actually sabotaging your progress… #3 will shock you!”
  • “The biggest mistake I see my clients making (and how to fix it!).”
  • “Think you need to cut carbs to lose weight? Let’s talk. “
  • “This ONE tweak can make a huge difference in your energy levels. ⚡”
  • “Let’s play a game: Which of these foods is the sneakiest source of sugar? “

Part 2: The Story

The story in your posts is the “meat” of the post, and the heart of your content. It gives context, builds connection, and keeps your audience engaged. This might be:

  • A personal experience (e.g., “I tried this viral trend, and here’s what happened…”)
  • A client transformation (e.g., “One of my clients fell for this trend, and here’s what we did instead…”)
  • A scientific breakdown (e.g., “Let’s look at the actual research behind this trend—does it hold up?”)
  • A relatable struggle (e.g., “You’re not alone if you’ve tried this and didn’t see results—here’s why.”)

Think of the story as the bridge between your hook (which grabs attention) and your offer (which provides the solution).

Part 3: The Offer

Your offer is the action step you want your audience to take. It doesn’t always mean you’re selling in your posts, either! It might be:

  • Encouraging engagement: “Have you tried this trend? Drop your experience in the comments!”
  • Driving traffic: “Want a science-backed approach? Grab my free guide at the link in my bio.”
  • Selling a service: “If you’re ready for a sustainable nutrition plan, book a discovery call with me today.”
  • Providing a resource: “Swipe to see 3 better alternatives to this trend!”

Pro tip:

Ever heard of ManyChat? This is an add-on software that can be used on many social platforms to help you provide information to potential clients and build your email list faster, in a hand-off way! Have you ever seen someone say something like, “Ready to learn more? Type “HUNGRY”  in the comments, and I’ll send you a copy of FREE Sheet Pan Meals Guide!”? If so, this is likely set up with manychat, so that every time someone comments the word “HUNGRY” on their post, they receive an automated DM with a link to opt into their free or paid offer, and to join their email list so they can get to know their work better, and begin to move from a cold lead on social media, to a potential warm lead, who knows and understand what they might gain from working with you.

Remember: The best offers (or CTA’s)  in your posts will feel like a natural next step after the story—your audience should walk away with new insight and a way to take action. Here are a few call-to-action examples to help you boost engagement, and rock your content plan!

  • “Ready to level up your health? Click the link in my bio to discover how we can work together to create lasting wellness! ”
  • “Save this post for your next healthy meal prep session! ”
  • “Tag a friend who would love these health tips! ‍♀️”
  • “Double-tap if you’re ready to kickstart your wellness journey and feel your best! ❤️”
  • “Got questions about [TOPIC]? Drop them below, and I’ll answer in my stories!
  • “Looking to learn more about a balanced nutrition plan? DM me ‘BALANCE’ for a free consultation and some personalized resources! ”
  • “Which wellness tip spoke to you today? Let me know in the comments or send me a message for more personalized advice! ”
  • “Curious about how I can support your health goals? Let’s chat! Book a free discovery call through the link in my bio, or send me a message to learn more! ”

  • “Save this post for your next grocery run to make healthy shopping easier! ”
  • “Want a free meal plan to jumpstart your nutrition? DM me ‘MEAL PLAN’ to get yours delivered right to your inbox! ”

These CTAs encourage interaction, foster connection, and help direct your audience to the next best steps!

Step 4: Choose Your Visuals

Pairing all of your great copy and captions with engaging visuals is key! Use free design tools like Canva, pull from your own photo and video library, or hit record and capture the video that you need! Mix it up with:

  • Graphics (Could be one single graphic, or a carousel with multiple slides)
  • Short-form videos (Tiktoks, reels, shorts, etc)
  • Selfies, personal photos, headshots (With or without a text overlay)

Step 5: Schedule Your Posts

Once your content is ready, use a scheduling tool like Later, Buffer, or Meta Business Suite to automate publishing. This will help you stay consistent while giving you more time to engage with your audience.

Pro tip: Leave room for flexibility! Save a few blank slots in your calendar for spontaneous posts or timely updates that you’re feeling in the moment. P

Final thoughts: Make your social media work for your business!

Your content should not only educate and inspire, but also guide your potential future clients toward working with you. Subtly weave in links to resources that provide value, and utilize all of your content to clearly help them understand the exact problems that you are here to help them solve.

This will not only attract the most aligned clients to you, but it will also repel those who are not meant for your work (This is a good thing – Trust us!).
