The alarm clock goes off, you pull yourself out of bed and walk into the kitchen. What are you making?? Coffee, tea, latte, a smoothie? Do you make the same thing every day? I don’t have a standard go-to morning beverage. l like to mix things up and try new variations and even test out the newest trend at the time!
Magic Matcha
Don’t get me wrong, I love nothing more than the smell and taste of a fresh cup of java, but I like to explore other options too. Why do I change things up? Honestly, I find it motivates me to get moving in the mornings by starting the day with a yummy beverage. One of my all time favourites is a Matcha Green Tea Latte. This is so creamy and delicious, I can’t even stand it! It is frothy and energizing, not to mention all the health benefits!
Matcha green tea is finely ground green tea leaves. It comes in the form of a green powder that you whisk to mix. I mix mine with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I have also tried it with coconut, and cashew milk- both also very good!
Matcha has many health benefits such as being high in antioxidants, immune boosting properties, and it is a metabolism booster. It also has high levels of chlorophyll which acts to detoxify the body. One of my favourite things about Matcha is the focused, relaxed energy it gives me. I know that seems crazy, “relaxed energy,” but I don’t get jittery like I do when I drink coffee. It is a really nice level of calm energy probably due to the L-Theanine that promotes mental functioning.
