Mornings are a fresh start, a chance to set intentions for the day, practice mindfulness and prepare our bodies for a healthy day ahead. Starting your day with a big glass of room temperature lemon water is great for detox and PH balance.
It’s also great to practice intermittent fasting and hold off a little longer before eating the first meal of the day (10-12 hours is a great rule of thumb for an overnight fast). When you are ready to break the fast, reaching for a big green smoothie is an excellent choice. This morning detox smoothie is loaded with vitamins, minerals and macro nutrients to power your day in the best way.
Morning Green Detox Smoothie
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup cucumber, peeled and sliced
- 1 large frozen banana, broken into pieces
- 1 cup kale, loosely packed, stems removed
- Large handful of spinach
- Scoop of almond or peanut butter
- 1 1/2 cup cashew or almond milk
- Add all the ingredients to a high-power blender and blend on high
- Add in more milk and/or ice for desired consistency
