If you are like me and have difficulty with getting your children to choose the healthier option, then why not provide them with something that tastes so good they have no idea it is healthy? These snack attack bars are a big hit in my house with my two daughters. They are quick and easy to make and ready when they are looking for that grab and go snack. Even better is that you can always change it up a little by adding different ingredients or replacing some existing ones!
Snack Attack Bars
Ingredients
- 2 cup Rolled Oats
- 1/4 cup Raw Sliced Almonds
- 1 cup Dehydrated Unsweetened Cranberries
- 1/2 tbsp Cinnamon
- 1/4 cup Flax Seed
- 1/4 cup Almond Milk (original)
- 1/4 cup Organic Raw Honey
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 1/4 cup of 70% Dark Chocolate
- 1/4 cup of Unsweetened Apple Sauce
- 1/4 cup Natural Organic Peanut Butter
- 1/2 cup Unsweetened Coconut
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix dry ingredients together
- In a separate pot mix wet ingredients and heat at stovetop until the chocolate and peanut butter are melted
- Combine the dry and wet ingredients
- Place wax paper on a pan and spray or oil lightly
- Spread mixture evenly onto the pan and flatten
- Place in refrigerator for approx. 20 minutes to cool
- Cut into bars and store in the fridge as a grab and go treat
* Optional – Replace the coconut with whey protein powder if you are looking for additional protein in your day! Can also replace the honey with maple syrup, the cranberries with organic raisins, the sliced almonds with a seed of your choosing or a favourite nut, try different flavours of Almond Milk or a darker chocolate for a bolder taste. The possibilities are endless in ways to mix up and create an easy, tasty snack with just a few minor tweaks! The best part is, it is so easy the kids can help in preparing them.
