The Protein Question

The Protein Question

As a vegetarian there’s one comment that you’re always gonna hear; ‘you need to eat meat, you need the protein.’ It’s super annoying but it comes with being vegetarian/vegan. But protein is in a variety of different foods and you won’t be deficient even if you are a vegan. Also you don’t need that much protein as you might think. The average requirement is 42 grams of protein a day.

Here are some examples of some protein sources:

Quinoa: 8 grams per cup
Black beans: 8.9g of proteins in 100g
Tempeh: 19g of proteins in 100g

These are just a few examples, if you make a meal out of these 3 examples you’ll have almost all of your daily average requirement of protein, just in one meal. If something is stopping you from being vegetarian, protein should not be that reason. If you are eating a balanced plant based diet, not skipping any meals there’s no reason for you to be afraid of protein deficiencies.
