Turmeric, or Curcuma Longa is a perennial plant of the ginger family and it has been widely used for many centuries, especially as an alternative medicine in Ayurveda. The main ingredient in turmeric which carries the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, is known as Curcumin, which has been used to treat a variety of ailments for many years now. Turmeric is used in a lot of East Indian cooking, in sweet and savoury dishes and now with the growing positive research, turmeric is also being used in many different cultures in a variety of different ways.
Interestingly, Turmeric has also been applied to the skin, helping to brighten the complexion and make the skin glow. I have always suffered from dry skin and uneven skin tone but after researching numerous skin products, my dear mother advised that I use a turmeric paste.
According to my mother, this was the only face mask that I would ever need. After months of trial and error using different ingredients to create this paste, I finally made a paste that suited my skin for a natural glow.
Turmeric: The Natural Glow

I know what you’re thinking; No, your face wont turn yellow…I promise 🙂

- You can add a little more flour to make the paste thicker or add a little more lemon juice or yoghurt to make it runny if it is too thick
