Vegan Banana Peanut Butter Cacao Smoothie Bowl

Breakfast is my favourite time of the day to have a huge, satisfying, nutritious meal that will fill me up and fuel me for the day. Most days I make a smoothie bowl, which is thicker than a regular smoothie, so you can serve it in a bowl and use a spoon to eat it. I like my breakfast to be quick and convenient to make which this definitely is. It is also great to make at night for the next morning or for a later breakfast at work.

I’ve been making this particular smoothie bowl for a few months now on most mornings. It combines some of my favourite foods: bananas, peanut butter and CACAO! I look forward to it every time knowing it is delicious as well as healthy. This smoothie bowl is full of goodies from the heart connecting superfood cacao to the comfort of bananas and peanut butter. I am always left feeling satisfied and ready to rock for my day ahead!

Prep time: 5-10 minutes 

Yield: 1-2 servings

Tips:

  • It is better for general health if you can use all organic ingredients
  • For preparing frozen bananas, peel them first, cut them in half and freeze for at least 8 hours
  • Use your favourite plant milk (I use cashew milk or coconut milk)
  • Use your favourite vegan protein powder (I use Harmonized Vegan Protein, vanilla)
  • Chia seeds are a great source of omega 3, but feel free to use other seeds
  • If you don’t have access to raw cacao, you can use cacao nibs, dark chocolate or non-dairy chocolate chips

Ingredients

  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 1 scoop vanilla vegan protein powder (I use Harmonized Vegan Protein)
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1-2 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup oats (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cashew milk
  • 2 tbsp chopped raw cacao or cacao nibs

Instructions

  • Place bananas in a food processor and blend until all the big chunks are gone
  • Add the rest of the ingredients in (except the cacao) and blend until smooth
  • Add in the cacao and blend lightly
  • Pour into bowl
  • You can play around with adding fancy toppings for some extra fun
