What If There Is More Than The Regular Broccoli!
Why Not Just Eat Broccoli? Why do I want to talk about broccoli sprouts?
There is growing evidence that good dietary choices can help prevent the onset of cancer and may even help cure it.
Cruciferous vegetables (Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage ,cauliflower and my favorite Kale) are one such group that provide potent anti-cancer properties through their effect on your genes, a family that is known to positively affect the expression of over 200 genes. Eating them a few times a week reduces cancer risk by 30% or more.
Now, here is why I like broccoli sprouts so much:
Because, it contains Sulforaphane. Researchers have found that sulforaphane has the ability to suppress breast cancer cell activity, inhibit cancer cell motility, and enhance detoxification. A new study published in the September 2013 Breast Cancer Research and Treatment journal suggests that sulforaphane blocks the inflammatory processes that allow breast cancer stem cells to communicate. By acting on the cancer stem cells, sulforaphane prevents tumors from forming, growing, and migrating β a big plus if youβre looking to reduce your risk of breast cancer occurrence.
Sulforaphane also, promotes the production of enzymes that protect blood vessels and blocks certain enzymes associated with joint destruction. It helps protect your muscles from the damage sometimes caused by physical activity.
To top it all
It’s an excellent source of vitamins A, C, E with antioxidant properties and group B, especially B2, B6 and vitamin K. Notable proportions of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, but also potassium, manganese, copper, rich in chlorophyll and as I mentioned in sulforaphane.
I have my daily dose of broccoli sprouts every day, about a cup in my morning smoothie. I don’t even taste it ;-).
