My name is Alva. I am a social worker at a hospital. I studied Gerontology and Mental Health in school. I also have keen interests in how the brain works to optimize physical and mental functioning. At my work, I have witnessed first hand the importance of nutrition to my patients’ physical and mental health. In fact, a lot of my patients who suffer from chronic illnesses such as diabetes, congestive heart failure, kidney and liver failures, have very poor eating habits. On the other hand, I also observe that poor appetite – a lack of desire to eat, is often the prelude to a number of physical and mental illnesses such as cancers and depression.
I want to learn more about nutrition and be a holistic Nutritionist so that I can support my patients.
