Vegetarian and Plant-Based Nutrition Canada Gunn

Hello,

I’m on my way to become a Holistic Nutritionist and Nutritional Coach, with a plant based nutrition specification!

I’m a mother of 3 young girls, and a wife.  I also currently work as an estimator for a Mechanical contractor.

I’ve never been one to frown upon a new meal idea, and my husband was told over 10 years ago that he was lactose, wheat and red meat intolerant.  Wow, did that ever change our eating habits, especially his (he was a meat and potato guy!).  He was also suggested to stop eating potatoes as it was affecting his body and his allergies.  As I was the one that did the majority of the cooking/baking I had to learn new meal ideas and learn to do everything a little differently.  Three long months later, we noticed his seasonal allergies were gone, his arthritis flare ups were gone, and he was feeling better all over, and so was I.  As our family got bigger we noticed that our 2 younger girls were having issues digesting milk and red meat as well.  We have cut red meat from our diet for about 4 years now, and notice a difference.  Then we watched a few documentaries on Netflix about 1.5 years ago, and it made us think, is there really a way to live without meat, and be more sustainable?

So me, being me, decided let’s go for it!  We have been plant based now for just over a year, and feeling great.  Yes, it took a few months of adjustment, but do I miss meat?  no, I’ve figured little tricks here and there.

I want to share my experiences, and learn more with others, that is the point of this for me.  I want to learn how the body ticks, and why it does what it does when food is involved.  I’ve seen how it can “reverse” some issues on my husband, myself and my children, so why not share that with others.

I should mention, I have hit a few bumps along the way, with people that have ended friendships because of our new eating habits (not a diet), and their beliefs.  I do not want to change the way people eat, just want to encourage to try new things, look at eating habits in a different light, and maybe prolong their life, and make them more comfortable in the skin they are in.

I’m not saying that everyone needs to be plant base, that was just the best decision for our lifestyle.  Everyone is different, and everyone’s body acts/needs different things.  I just want to be there to help, share, have fun!
