Talk about a miracle product. The words “miracle product” understandably get people’s skepticism muscles twitching, but this stuff is the real deal and is the only thing to get a handle on my acne-prone skin.
Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
To be clear, I’m talking about organic apple cider vinegar, with the ‘mother’.
Apple Cider Vinegar is not a new discovery, it has been highly regarded throughout history. Apparently Hippocrates, the father of medicine himself, used it for its incredible health benefits.
Skin
This one I can attest to! ACV can be used externally and internally to promote clear, healthy skin. When used diluted as a toner ACV’s antibacterial properties help keep blemishes at bay. Malic and lactic acids found in ACV soften and exfoliate skin, reduce red spots, and balance skin’s PH level. My skin has never been better, I have suffered with acne for over 15 years.
Hair
The benefits here are two-fold: shine & dandruff control.
The acidity of ACV changes the pH of your scalp, making it more difficult for yeast to grow
Teeth
ACV is said to both alleviate bad breath AND whiten teeth, this is due to its bacteria killing nature.
Energy Booster
Stress and exercise can cause lactic acid to build up in the body, this causes fatigue. ACV contains amino acids that act as an antidote to this. On top of that, ACV contains potassium and enzymes that can relieve that tired feeling.
Immune System
ACV balances out your body’s PH level to be alkaline. Colds and viruses thrive in acidic PH level, but have a hard time getting traction in a body that is alkaline.
Blood Sugar
Multiple studies have shown a link between ACV and blood sugar levels.
Weight Control
Apple cider vinegar is said to have weight loss benefits. Apparently the acetic acid suppresses your appetite, increases your metabolism, and reduces water retention all at the same time. Some scientists have theorized that ACV interferes with the body’s digestion of starch, meaning fewer calories getting into the blood.
Digestion
If consumed before eating ACV can prevent indigestion, a teaspoon in a glass of water 30 minutes before dining could really help you out.
ACV has antibiotic qualities and can alleviate diarrhea caused by bacterial infections. It is also said to soothe intestinal spasms on account of the pectin.
Cholesterol
While evidence is not conclusive, yet… A study has found that the acetic acid in ACV lowered bad cholesterol in rats, and a Japanese study found 0.5 oz of ACV a day lowered cholesterol in participants.
Believe it or not, these aren’t even all of the supposed health benefits of apple cider vinegar! Plus it makes a great (& cheap) cleaning product for spring cleans.
