Cayenne Pepper: Some Like It Hot

October 15, 2019

Personally, I love a little spice.  Whether it is on food or drink.  Not too hot – but enough to add a kick of flavour.

Cayenne pepper tastes delicious on many different foods and is also beneficial to your health. It helps with minor ailments, can help soothe your body’s pain and help your body to heal faster.
It is most commonly added to food in powder form, but larger doses are best when you are treating an ailment.  It is best to take it in an alternate form for a large dose. Below are a few health benefits of cayenne pepper.

Benefits of Cayenne Pepper

Digestive Aid

Cayenne pepper is well known as a digestive aid.  The reason for this is that it stimulates the digestive tract, and increases the flow of gastric juices and enzymes.  This, in turn, aids your body’s ability to metabolize foods and toxins. It is helpful for relieving intestinal gas by stimulating the contraction and relaxation of muscles that aid in assimilation and elimination.
Cayenne pepper also has great nutritional content that includes a variety of antioxidants.

Smoothies for Metabolism Boost

Cayenne pepper can suppress your hunger by the capsaicin found in it.  This is known to produce extra heat and burn more calories (and fat!).  This helps to boost your metabolism.
You can add cayenne pepper to your smoothies every morning to reap some of these benefits.

Detox Support

Cayenne pepper helps to stimulate your circulatory system.  By heating the body, our natural detoxification process can be streamlined.  Cayenne pepper increases the pulsations in our lymph and digestive systems. The heat of cayenne pepper can also cause your body to sweat more – which helps to eliminate toxins.

Soothes Occasional Joint Discomfort

Capsaicin cream works to relieve pain by sending chemical messages from the skin into the joints, which helps to offer pain relief for those pains caused by joint discomforts.

Prevents Blood Clots

Cayenne pepper has been studied regarding heart disease and strokes.  The capsaicin compound can help to dilate your arteries and clean out lipid deposits.  This helps your blood vessels to clear away clots – and can potentially save your life!
