Chlorophyll – A Great Way to Start the Day!
I find nothing more satisfying than starting my day with a nice green drink! Be it a smoothie or just some greens, it’s a great way to invigorate my day. Really, anytime during the day is a great time for a green drink, I just prefer the mornings.
A friend of mine found such benefits from drinking some liquid chlorophyll extract every day. She would mix it with water, sip it through the day and found it gave her a great ‘boost’.
I have been using this kind for quite a while now and it tastes great (I am partial to the mint flavoured ones- this one is flavoured with natural spearmint oil)! *Note: I am certainly not trying to promote a particular brand here, just wanted to show the one that I am currently using.
Elson Haas (2006, p. 311) notes that chlorophyll “is known to have revitalizing and refreshing effects when used in humans,” and I can certainly attest to this. I’m sure we all can, from our ingestion of many green vegetables, but I find even more so now that I’ve been using this drink. It is quite supportive of detoxification, balancing pH levels, as well as supporting the intestines and digestive system.
Mix 1 tbsp into a shaker cup of water and some ice. I enjoy this as a chilled drink but that’s completely my personal preference. 1 tbsp contains 150mg of chlorophyll in this brand. Some other brands that I have used have been fortified with Vitamin D, which is a great way for us in more northern climates to get more Vitamin D, especially in the winter months; I am quite deficient so I’ll take any excuse to get more vitamin D. 🙂
