Chocolate Energy Balls

Today my brother came up to me asking for something he can eat before going on a 3 hour cycling training. He said that he needed a quick and easy snack that will fuel his body with the right amount of energy to sustain the high demand training.

I came up with this recipe that I would like to share with you!

Energy balls

You will need

  • ½ cup of oats
  • 1 TBSP of coconut oil
  • 1 Tbsp. of chocolate whey protein (of your choice)
  • 6 dates
  • 2 Tbsp. of almond butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • Cinnamon at your preference
  • ½ Tbsp. cacao powder
  • 2 Tbsp. of water

Steps

In a blender

  • Blend ½ cup of oats.
  • Then add the dates and mix. When you have everything well blended
  • Add the rest of the ingredients except for the 2 Tbsp. of water
  • When everything is blended together
  • Add the 2 Tbsp. of water.

When you have smooth consistency, use a Tbsp to grab the same amount of mix to create balls.

I wet my hands in coconut oil for better rolling.

Refrigerate and that’s it!

You have a quick snack that will give you sustainable energy.

Usually, for those long training sessions, cyclists wake up early in the morning (4:00am-5:00am) so this is a good idea because it will save them time and help them become more organized.

These energy balls are not only convenient for cyclists, they are also a healthy and delicious dessert that will help you keep up with all the activities during your busy days. I tried them with a cup a coffee and it was wonderful!

Hope you like it!
