I am a huge fan of healthy, delicious green smoothies!
A nice green juice or smoothie genuinely makes me happy. My partner however, loved to stay away from anything green when we first started dating (he’s grown to enjoy green things now!). I came up with this smoothie recipe after many attempts of asking him to try my green smoothies, and the colour alone would turn him off. How can I get more greens into his day? No matter how delicious it tastes, the green was too much.
This smoothie tastes like a healthy peanut butter cup, packed with nutrition and some hidden greens! Experiment with the type of nut or seed butter that you prefer (lately I’ve been using PB2 as I can’t have peanut butter, but almond butter is always my go to).
Chocolate ‘Peanut Butter Cup’ Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 scoop vegan protein powder
- 1 tbsp flaxseed (or chia seeds)
- 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 2 tbsp almond butter, or peanut butter, or PB2
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (I use a little less than 1 tbsp)
- ¾ cup organic baby spinach
- A few ice cubes
Add all ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth
*Not only is this a delicious vegan and gluten free smoothie but it is a great source of many nutrients: protein, fibre, vitamins A, C, E, calcium, folic acid, magnesium, niacin, potassium, pyridoxine, riboflavin, zinc and many more bits of awesomeness from your protein powder.
