Tips To Reduce Stress & Anxiety

March 30, 2021

Stress and anxiety can be overwhelming and sometimes affecting our entire life making it hard to do even the simplest tasks. I have used these tips myself and noticed such a huge difference in my own mood and well-being and I hope they can help you too.

Tips To Reduce Stress & Anxiety

Talk it Out or Write it Down

Have a conversation with a friend, family member or a professional- Almost everyone goes through these feelings you are not alone. It will feel like a weight lifts from your shoulders talking about what’s bothering you.

Write in a journal- It’s not easy for everyone to talk about their feelings so write your thoughts and feelings into a journal! Writing thoughts into a journal will still help release some built up tension you may have and help reflect on issues going on.

Eat & Drink a Balanced Diet

Eating a well balanced nutritional diet can do wonders for your mood. Eating a variety of foods ensures you and your body are getting the proper nutrients it needs to fight off stress and anxiety the body has. Water intake is crucial as well since it will take all the nutrients throughout the body and keep you hydrated.

Get Fresh Air & Exercise

You should get in motion everyday even if it’s just for a short walk. Exercise has been linked to increased energy levels, mood and reducing stress and anxiety (along with multiple other benefits.) Get your heart rate up from aerobics or lifting weights or increase flexibility and mindfulness with yoga (yoga outside for added benefit)

If you are not used to working out just go for an easy stroll through the park and take in all nature has to offer. Being surrounded by nature increases positive feelings by reducing production of stress hormones.

Get a Goodnight Sleep

Most people need 7-8 hours of good quality sleep every night. Sleep is an important time for your body to repair and detox itself from the stresses of the day and can have major effects on emotions. You should aim to have a good sleep schedule, going to bed and waking up at the same time each night/ day.

If you have troubles sleeping try:

  • Avoiding screen time before bed
  • Adding 1 cup of epsom salt to your bath before bed
  • Drinking some chamomile tea
  • Meditating before bed to calm the thoughts of the mind
