Vitamin B

B-E-A-U-TIFUL VITAMINS

I find the group of B vitamins fascinating. Each time I read about them, they never cease to amaze me. There is no “I” in the Vitamin B team. These vitamins need to work together in order to function properly. These vitamins are found in a lot of the same foods.  If you ever decide to take a B vitamin, be sure to take a B complex supplement in order to reap all of the B-eautiful benefits.

Do you have low self-esteem or feeling depressed?

Vitamin B1 (also known as Thiamin or Thiamine) is often used to treat mental illnesses. It seems to improve nerve function when out of balance. If you are going in for surgery, B1 (Thiamin) can help with the healing process. The most fascinating part about B1 (Thiamin) is that if you consume 50-100mg a day, it will help repel mosquitos. I just might start hiking!

Do you have tired eyes, acne or eczema?

Vitamin B2 (also known as Riboflavin) is mainly helpful with eyesight. Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) treats eye strain, tired eyes and even cataracts. Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) helps cells properly use oxygen and release carbon dioxide; meaning it is even great to treat acne and eczema.

Do you have leg cramps or arthritis?

Vitamin B3 (also known as Niacin) improves circulation in the body so it is great to treat arthritis, leg cramps; even headaches. Vitamin B3 (Niacin) can even prevent heart attacks and strokes by lowering the “bad” cholesterol levels (LDL) and raise the “good” cholesterol levels (HDL). That warm itchy feeling you get after taking 50mg of Niacin; is harmless, and the feeling is temporary. Yes it’s uncomfortable, but you just did a wonderful thing for your body.

Stressed?

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) is literally known as the “anti-stress” vitamin. Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) allows the adrenal glands to make cortisone, a hormone that relieves stress.

Hey ladies, are your hormones out of whack?

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is so important to women’s health. It relieves premenstrual symptoms, emotional nerves, and water retention. If you are taking birth control, then your estrogen levels could be higher and you might want to consider taking more B6 (Pyridoxine).

Are you feeling tired all of the time?

Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) pushes the body to get the most nutrients from food; literally making more energy. Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) is known as the “longevity” vitamin because like the Energizer bunny, you will keep going, and going, and going.

These are only highlights of B vitamins. There are many more benefits to these vitamins. Now let me ask; have you considered taking a B complex today?
