Weight control during the holidays
Today i would like to give you a few simple tips on how to NOT put on the pounds during the holiday season.
Holidays of course is about family and food and well we all know it usually means a lot of food.
It is usually a time where we all get together and sit around and talk which is great too, but unfortunately all that sitting around leads to that big ball in your stomach that leaves you feeling sluggish and tired.
I would like to suggest a few simple tips to avoid that feeling this year and hopefully prevent any unwanted weight gain:
- First i would suggest if you are hosting to make sure to have lots of water available in and around the table so that people can easily stay hydrated and hopefully avoid overeating. As you know water is an important part of diet and we should be drinking 8 glasses per day to maintain a good hydration status.
- The second thing is would strongly recommend is using smaller plates that will decrease the amount of food taken in.Next avoid using as much processed foods as possible that way at least you know what you are eating and chances are there will be less sugar and refined flours. Put out fresh fruits and veggies to snack on with dips that are made with whole ingredients so that people fill on healthy raw foods before dinner.
- Last but not least plan a outside activity after dinner with everyone playing football or anything that gets everyone together and moving. It is great for bonding and you will see it creates lots of laughter which we all can use a little more of.
