Hi, I am Melissa. Since i was a kid and throughout my teens i have struggled with my weight. I ate junk food everyday and it was an addiction to me. Being young as i was, i was naive about eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle. I was never an active kid. Everyday after school i would plop myself on the couch and eat whatever food was hanging around. It wasnt until I was 14 years old when I was opened to a whole new world of eating.

I went on weight watchers and lost 25 pounds in 6 months. It was a difficult process especially from eating cakes, chips and candies to eating more wholesome foods such as fruits and veggies. Along with eating healthy I started working out. Doing at least an hour of cardio everynight. I felt good. I went from a size 15 to a size 11. I felt good about myself. But being a teenager, I wasn’t completely happy with myself and the way I looked. I wanted to lose more. I wanted to look more like the skinny girls I went to school with. I lost an additional 15 pounds throughout my final years of high school, but I still wasn’t happy. I became obsessed with the way i looked and the way I wanted to look to the point that I would starve myself. I did lose weight but eventually gained it all back and then some. I was doing damage to my body.

As i got older I learned more about eating healthy and working out. Its all about balance. I lift weights now and I meal plan every week so I can stay focused. I am still on my weight loss journey, not to be skinny but to be strong and fit. My mentality has changed since I was 14 years old and everyday I learn something new. Everyday is a constant struggle. I have huge cravings for bad food. Some days I do better than others but its all about the journey.

Not only have I recently learned that I am hypoglycemic but I also suffer from hypothyroidism since the age of 19. Not only do I want to look great on the outside, I want to feel great on the inside. My goal is to not be hyperglycemic anymore and to eventually get off my thyroid pills. When i eat healthy and workout I feel amazing. Health and fitness has been a huge part of my life, even with the ups and downs but that is why I want to help others. I understand what others are going through and helping people who struggle with their weight or self- esteem puts a huge smile on my face. My goal is to inspire people and motivate them. I want people to see that they are strong even at their weakest moments. To give them knowledge and hope for a better and healthier future.

I love helping others even while I am on my own journey because in the end we are all headed to the same place – to a healthier way of living and to a fit and healthier YOU!
