Welcome!
Thank you for taking steps to better health! My name is Jasira Baldeo, a mother of one and a current student enrolled in the field of Nutritional Science and Functional Medicine in Edmonton, AB. Upon graduating, I’ll be a Holistic Nutritionist as well as Health Coach with specialties in General Nutrition, Digestive Health, Hormone Balancing and Plant-Based Nutrition.
Nutrition wasn’t always a focal point throughout my life. I had complex health issues right from birth and from a very young adolescent age, I started experiencing chest pains that were most prevalent after being active. I spent a lot of time in the outdoors and not being able to keep up with the other kids, started this downward spiral of depression and chronic anxiety. I had steadily put on weight and as a result, I didn’t feel good about myself. I was caught in that cycle of “emotional eating” which had carried through into my adult life.
Experiencing difficulties getting up the stairs, moodiness, digestive issues, acne, menstrual chaos, arthritis, leaky gut, to name a few, I became a regular visitor to the doctor’s office, leaving with a prescription for one aliment or another.
I wasn’t living a quality life, rather a life of convenience. Eating out and ordering in had become quite a regular routine. No wonder I was feeling lifeless, exhausted, dragging myself just to get through the day. Buying convenience eventually caught up with me.
Finally at the age of 42, I was literally exhausted. Exhausted of feeling sick and being sick. Torturing my body finally took its toll. Struggling in day-to-day living wasn’t the way I wanted to live anymore. So I set out on a journey to change. To get rid of the old and embrace the new.
At the age of 43 I made a life changing decision to return to the world of academics to learn about the complexity of nutrition. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life, besides having my daughter and rescuing my pup. It is through my studies that I’ve truly realized the power of food and fully acknowledge that what we put in, greatly impacts our health on a mind, body, and spirit level. And having gone through everything that I have, was a necessary journey that shaped me into the person I am today. Happy, healthy and a desire to help others feel the same.
I’m excited for the future studying Holistic Nutrition and whether you’re seeking to understand more about nutrition or insight on how you can change your own eating habits, i’ll be there to support and guide you towards the results you want to achieve. You will love how you’ll feel and your future self will love you for it.
I look forward to meeting you in the future!
